Ipod Screen Protector - ipod cover, iskin

I agree with the previous review. I applied the ShieldZone Invisible shield to a Motorola Razr V3 cell phone and it was quite difficult and messy. The shield is durable and looks good when applied, but it catches dust very easily and it's difficult to fix if applied incorrectly.

You need an absolute dust-free environment for application as well clean hands. It takes about 40-60 minutes to install properly, but be familiar with how you are going to do it. Review the instructional video at the shieldzone website, and have your procedure rehearsed in your mind before beginning, because if you apply it incorrectly it sets relatively quickly and is hard to reset.

Thinking back, a less durable but more pliable plastic shield might work just as good for short term protection, though in the long-run this is better (if applied correctly.) ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPod Video (30GB) (Full Body)

The idea of a sheer iPod protector is captivating, but keep a few things in mind before you toss away your cash. You basically have two choices for this type of ultra-sheer protector - the InvisibleShield or ShieldZone. Both require patience and advance reading:

= All the stories of this protector being difficult to apply are true. The protector is a thin, ultra-tough plastic that binds to your iPod's surface. First, you moisten your fingers, then peel it off and align it to the iPod's surface until it's completely covered. With larger sheets, positioning can take time and patience. When it's dry, the surface cures for a day and almost seems to become a part of your player, making it impervious to scratches and dust. However, alignment is crucial, and doing it incorrectly means you'll have to reapply a portion.

= Your fingers must be moist while applying the shield, but the plastic must be dry. Once applied successfully, squeeze out as many small bubbles as possible, and allow it to cure for a few days. The small bubbles will disappear - but accidental fingerprints will not.

= Wetness is the key. After initial failure, follow the instructions for reapplication. Follow the video instructions online meticulously before application.

= The results, when correctly applied, give you a protective seal strong enough to stand up to abuse from hard, sharp objects like keys and worse. It has a smooth feel that may surpass that of a regular iPod.

It's important to reiterate: follow the online video instructions, and carefully. Work slowly to achieve nothing less than a perfect fit. It took me almost an hour to apply mine, though speed will likely increase once you get the feel. The company is very courteous and responsive, but be aware that their lifetime warranty does NOT apply to failed applications, for the most part.

I initially bought an iSkin to protect my video iPod but I thought the iSkin was too bulky and made the iPod even bigger than it already was. I bought this invisibleShield because it would protect the iPod but not change it's dimensions or look.

My installation was flawless. I have no dust or bubbles and you can't even tell that there is a shield installed unless you hold it up to your face and move it around in the light.

Installing the front 3 pieces is pretty easy as they are all flat. The front 3 pieces fit perfectly. The back/sides piece is a little tricky to install. I took great care to position it but I feel that it is about 1mm short on 1 side (I probably misaligned it). This is not something you can see... but for a perfectionist, like myself, it makes you want to peel it off and try again and get it 100% right.

Other than that minor issue with the back/side piece, I am very happy with this shield. As you know the video iPod is prone to scratches and I can slide this around on my table and keep it in my pocket and nothing will happen to it. This shield is purely for cosmetics. If you tend to ding up your ipod, get an iSkin or another silicon case. You can always slide your iPod with this shield into another case if you feel the need.

Regarding installation, just keep in mind...make sure your hands are squeaky clean. Make sure you use a lot of the liquid (this liquid is misted on and it will not damage your iPod), and make sure you take your your time. If you see micro bubbles or dust, you did something wrong. You can always remove the shield and try again but you have to be careful how you remove it. Be very gentle and it will peel off and you can try again.

Plus it's great that it has a lifetime warranty so if you somehow scratch it up, you get a new one for free.

I bought my first InvisibleShield a few weeks after I bought my first 30 gig Ipod video. I wish I knew about this product before I bought the ipod because I would have put it on before I used the ipod. We all know how easy a Ipod scratches, with the InvisibleShield your Ipod will not have one single sctatch!!! Go to their web site and watch the demo video...its honestly true!!! This product is awesome!!!! I have since bought two more 30gig ipods for my wife and son. I bought a InvisibleShield for each and installed them before letting my family use them. Since than I have bought InvisibleShield for three cell phones, the screens of two digital cameras, and one for my PDA. This is a MUST HAVE!!! - Invisibleshield - Ipod Cover - Ipod - Iskin'
