I am pleasantly surprised at how trim and well-fitted this case is. I was worried the ridge around the screen would get in the way of things like typing and the 4 touch buttons at the bottom, but so far so good. It fits perfectly, adds very little bulk, and overall I consider it a great value for the price - way cheaper and better than the couple of cases I saw in the AT&T store. I would have been willing to pay $30 for a barely there case from Case Mate, but they don't make one for the Captivate, and neither does anyone else I can see. Frog Case is coming out with one soon, but it looks bulkier than this one. So my impression is that this is the best case currently available for the Captivate, and I am satisfied with it. This case fits well but I found it interfered with several important functions or buttons on my Captivate.
Pros:
1) Fits well.
2) Very nice looking.
3) Nice finish.
Cons
1) First the top part of the screen is covered by the case. This makes it difficult to swipe down the status bar notifications. Sometimes it would take 5 or 6 swipes to activate. sometimes it just would not work at all.
2) Top of the case covers the part of the screen that you can side swipe to adjust the screen brightness. Making this impossible to do while the case was on.
3) I found that the case covered bottom edge of the front making it hard to press the phone buttons.
4) The case also makes the side buttons hard push
Bottom line I am no longer using this case.
This is similar to the Griffin "wave lock" case I had on my iPhone for two years. The material body is a little lighter duty, but also means lighter weight and a little less bulk. The finish is super for me, as I can crawl around under cars and it doesn't slide out. My main complaints are that it doesn't come with it's own display cover like my Griffin did, and that like the iPhone cover the edges crowd the side of the screen sometimes interfering with operation.
Would buy again, as it's the best thing I know of for what I need it to do. Bought straight through Amzer though, they had lower advertised shipping time.
The case is a good/snug fit and looks nice. However, the thickness and proximity of the bottom edge of the case to the four controls buttons at the bottom of the screen makes the process of using these buttons rather frustrating. The problem is repeated when edit/control bottoms are rendered close to the bottom of the screen. Also, the proximity of the top flange of the case to the area of the notification bar which is at the top of the screen creates the same problem of not being able to manipulate the bar easily.
THIS CASE NEEDS A RE-DESIGN TO ENSURE THE FUNCTIONALITY ADDS TO THE CURRENT NICE LOOK/FEEL OF THE CASE.
My experience is in line with an earlier comment. Nice fit and feel to the case but poor design at the top and bottom of the case as these parts of the case interfere with the functionality of the touch screen.
You may buy the case for its looks but controlling your device (when using the touch buttons at the bottom of the screen or notification bar on top of the screen) may be very frustrating! If you suffer from hypertension, avoid this!
The case looks great and stays On very well. But if your phone has screen protector on, then the phone won't fit very well in the case. It's a 2-piece case and has to lock on all four sides, but in my case one of the sides remain unlocked and the crack is visible on the that side. It still works though.
This is a great case. It looks good, snaps on well, stays on well and is very durable.
It makes it just a *little* tough to touch the edges of the screen, but it's no big deal. I take it off occasionally to clear the crud that gets captured in the crevices.
This case is exactly what I wanted: fairly rigid, snaps on securely, but fits the phone well enough that no play is really needed. It just feels like a slightly bulkier housing for the phone, like the phone could have been sold this way; I know when I drop it though, that the case will distribute that force and make the phone itself less likely to break.
Just pop the case off once every couple weeks and wipe out the dust that gets in there. I think anyone with a captivate will like this product. - Samsung Case - Samsung - Accessories - Captivate'
