Thanks & Good Luck... moshi MiniDisplay Port to HDMI Adapter with Audio
I love this cable and am so glad I paid the extra money for the audio. It has re-defined my life. I now can use my 32' Samsung HD TV as my Mac computer. Whereas some files may not play on the Xbox 360, you install VLC on your mac and get a hold of this plus a decent HDMI cable and you have the greatest multimedia device there is. Emulate old school video games on your big screen, or watch your digital movies on a screen much bigger than your iPhone. If you plug your Mac into a powersource, and have a wireless mouse and keyboard you don't even need to open the laptop is just lays flat as a slim lightweight hard drive. All in all this cable + HDMI + Nice TV + Mighty Mouse + Bluetooth keyboard = The Ultimate Entertainment Source. Don't forget to get VLC, a little open-source program capable of playing any video file!
I was very delighted when I got this adapter, and it worked great for about 2 months. After that, the connector came off once day while disconnecting the adapter from the macbook pro, and the wires got exposed. I put it back together, and it continued to work for a few more times off and on, and then finally it stopped working completely. I bought this after reading so many positive reviews, and payed the extra money ($35 compared to $8-10 devices). I would not recommend this to anybody.
I'm using the adapter with my macbook air 11, and it works perfectly. I've connected my air via the adapter and a hama hdmi cable to my sony w5500 lcd tv, made the settings for both video and sound on my air (also set the sound source input in the TV to the hdmi slot that i connected). Great quality.
I bought this product at the Apple Store. Over the following 6 months, the device got progressively more finicky with the cord position to the point where it now will not work. Waste of money. Don't waste your money too.
I am using this with an early 2009 Mac Mini in order to connect the machine to our 52" Sony Bravia XBR9 HDTV. Installation and configuration was fast and easy. The only thing I needed to do on the TV was to set it to FULL PIXEL so that there was no overscan from the Mini. Display setting on the Mac's display preference is 1080p. Since this model of Mac Mini does not send audio through the MDP, the only other thing I needed to do was to connect a TOSLINK audio cable to the Mini's digital audio output and then on to my Cables to Go TOSLINK switcher in order to get the audio into the system. Everything is working great and I am getting 1080p resolutions from the video output of the MIni along with full 5.1 and DTS audio from my collection of TV shows and Movies. I am using a program called PLEX for OSX to manage and catalog my video collection along with three external hard drives to hold all the media files.
If you own a Mac Mini that does not have HDMI output, there is really no need to spend the money on buying one of the new machines that does offer this output. This adapter will give you the same output quality and the 2 GhZ Mini is plenty fast enough to handle anything I have thrown at it, including Blu-ray transfers without compression.
I plugged this into a hdmi chord connected to my tv and my mini-display port on my Macbook Pro and the screen flickered for a while and then did nothing. I looked at the directions and found nothing helpful. My guess is that there is something incompatible with my tv, my hdmi chord, or my Macbook Pro. I haven't found a lot of helpful information anywhere. My Macbook Pro was purchased about 6 months ago so it should work and support even the sound through the hdmi cable. I have not heard of having to buy a special hdmi cable in order to get this to work. I am going to try a few more things and then send it back if I can't get it to work. Overall dissatisfied. - Macbook - Adapter - Hdmi - Mini Displayport'
