Floor Stand - drill presses, floor stand

I purchased this about a month ago and have been fairly satisfied with it. It was made in china, so the usual level of fit and finish should be expected. I had to debur the table and the upper pulley wheel is not drilled perfectly on center. (I brought it in for repair because there was a wobble in the shaft, but they couldn't find a problem and when I set it back up at home, I didn't notice a problem either.. must have just needed a breaking in.)

Other than that, it is a solid piece of machinery. It (now) drills smoothly and the almost 5 inches of travel is really nice. The lasers are setup in plastic mounts, so they aren't the easiest to get lined up, but they work. They produce a fairly thin line so it is simple to line things up for drilling. The wider flanges on the base make it very stable. The replaceable drill plates are nice also - this was definitely built with woodworkers in mind.

I was a little annoyed that it didn't work perfectly out of the box, but overall I am happy with my purchase. DELTA 17-959L 17-Inch Laser Crosshair Drill Press

I purchased this drill press on a Wednesday morning from Amazon with Free Super Saver Shipping and by Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. it was in my shop ready to be set up. I had been looking for a floor mounted drill press for some time to replace my Craftman benchtop press. I was very interested in the Powermatic PM 2800 but the cost, poor or mediocre reviews, with it's limited ability to drill into steel/metal combined with what appeared to be a difficulty to mount standard drill press vices on its table drove me to look elsewhere. The Grizzly and Steel City 17" presses looked nice but they had standard metal working tables that did not tilt forward and the Jet had poor/o.k. reviews. The Delta 17" had decent power, a large wood and steel working table that tilted forward and a laser which made it a logical choice. It's price through Amazon along with free shipping made it a good and economical choice for my shop. I don't mind the time for belt changes versus the varible speed Powermatic, so I placed the order.

The unit was delivered with no problems. A drill press is a pretty basic set up and the manual covered everything in plenty of detail. However, the manual for the Grizzly and Steel City presses are superior and provide better set-up options (i.e. install press head on pole and then lift up, not anchor the press to the floor and lift the head on top of the pole). Also other manufactures provided an explanation for the drift key to change the drill chuck, which Delta left out completely. Grizzly did a nice job on providing basic instructions on how to properly and safely use the press, which would be nice for a novice, a fact which Delta left out completely. A nice thing Delta did provide was a chart with drill bits and speeds for you to post in your shop as a rapid check for the belt set-up.

As for the press, it is well constructed and went together very well. The external light came with a metal clip to anchor the electrical chord versus the plastic units shown in the manual. The instructions gave no indication of where to put the metal clip, but a close inspection of the press head identified a threaded hole near the motor where the clip mounted perfectly. The laser took a few minutes to set up but does work very well at various table locations. I was able to square the table to the chuck in both directions with no prbolems and the chuck had 0.005" of runout. The T-slots work excellent with clamps and make the unit very easy to use. The table is great for using C-clamps as there are no edge rigids on the underside.

The belts change very quickly and the press does what it is supposed to. The quill lock is easy to use and the depth gauge changes rapidly. The only reason I gave this press 4 stars was the vibration in the unit. Although it is not terrible, I expected a little better. After some use and tweaking of the pullies, it did get better results but I will be repalcing the stock belts to see if this settles it down a bit in the future.

December 2009 Update: Well I have had this drill press for a year now and I am looking to replace it. The laser is poorly constructed out of a plastic collar which broke after less than 6 months of use. The quill lock is poorly constructed and stripped out within a few months of use. I have noticed the run-out has gotton worse and the vibrations have increased. I should have spent a little more money upfront with another brand and I am sure I would be much happier today.

I bought this drill press from Amazon. Some time ago I bought into Amazon Prime for free, two-day shipping, and Amazon;s web page for this item says that it is eligible under that plan. However, it is so heavy that it had to be shipped by motor freight (ABF, in my case). It was still free shipping, but it took a week to get here. It arrived a couple of days ago and I just completed assembling it.

My initial view is that it is a very good machine that will do everything that I might ever expect of it. I especially like the laser cross-hair feature, which is very accurate. There are a few annoyances, however. I understand why Delta has its stuff manufactured in Taiwan or China, but in my view, low-cost product need not mean poor documentation, design or quality. Take the documentation, for example. On the "carton contents" page of the instruction manual there is picture of a "drift key" that is one of the dozens of parts that are packaged separately, i.e. not assembled. No where else in the entire manual is there any further reference to this piece of hardware. What the devil am I supposed to do with that?

Also, there were some changes in design that didn't make it into the manual. For example, the manual references two "cord clamps" that are supposed to stick, via self adhesive, to the side of the drill press head and serve as a mechanism to keep the cord for the light out of the way. These have apparently been replaced by a screw-on clamp. This is a much better idea - I suspect the stick-on variety lasted about two days, maximum - but there is no threaded hole anywhere for the screw that is supposed to mount and hold the clamp, and no reference of any kind in the manual! So what do I do with that item?

In addition to document errors or omissions, there are a few design flaws. They're minor, mind you, but annoying nonetheless. Take the lasers: they represent great idea and a VERY useful feature, but the initial setup and adjustment if far from simple or intuitive. I bet that a first-year industrial design student at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) could have easily figured out a way to build in two simple, externally-accessible adjustment screws into each laser unit, one of which would adjust the laser alignment to vertical while the second would adjust the laser line left or right. But instead, Delta's idea of how to accomplish the task is to disassemble each laser housing and futz around inside them. It works, but its a time-consuming pain in the butt. As Doctor Phil says, "what were they thinking?"

Here's a REALLY minor design flaw, but for me the most annoying: there's no place to store the chuck key. How difficult or expensive would it have been to modify the table support with a bump-out in the casting through which a vertical hole could have been drilled to hold the key? I have a Craftsman bench-top drill press that was my father's, purchased, I'd guess, in the '40s. It has just such a provision for storing the chuck key which, for that very reason, has never been lost or misplaced. This proves that the idea is not new. Furthermore, I suspect that had there ever been a patent on the idea, it has long since expired. I fully expect to be spending hours - over the next few years, of course - trying to figure out where I put that key.

All of the above negatives, however, do not deter from the fact that this drill press will do most any job the average home shop might ever require of it, for a very reasonable price.

Oh, by the way, the assembly instructions say to install the drill press head after assembling the column to the base. Specifically, it says simply: "Place the drill press head on the column as far as it will go." Well, if you wanted to lift it up onto the free-standing base and column assembly, it'd require at least three burly guys and two rugged step ladders or a block and tackle arrangement; that head unit is VERY heavy (motor pre-installed at the factory). Instead, I laid the assembled base and column down on the floor and slid the head onto the column there by my lonesome. Then just my 5'0" wife and I were able to lift the fully assembled tool back up to vertical. MUCH easier!! - Floor Stand - Drill Presses - Delta'

Palm Screen Protector - camera accessories, screen protectors

These protectors were perfect for my GPS which is a 4.7" screen. I even had to trim them a little bit to fit. The stores do not sell protectors to fit bigger GPS screens and they are way more expensive in the stores. Body Glove WriteRight Universal Screen Protector for MP3 Players, Cameras, SmartPhones (Pack of 5)

On the manual it tells you to use a piece of cardboard to remove the bubbles and it pretty much scratched and destroyed yet another screen cover! I've tried over and over i cannot put this screen cover on without having 50 air bubbles. I'm not satisfied with this product and just wasted 5 dollars

These are great I just hope that you have a clean room like the one at Intel where they make microprocessors. No matter what you do there is gonna be at least eight particles of dust in between your screen and the WriteRight protector which leads to an air bubble which leads to visual frustration. I love the product it is great but I hate the dust that is getting in the way of letting me enjoy the product fully.

Yes, they have bubbles but it protects your screen down the road and you cant see them when the screen is on. Also find them cheap. I see on amazon your can get 15 for only $5.00! I'm going to use it on my Gps too. Cant complain to protect something and for the price I paid.

After my husband scratched up his camera monitor, I bought these to protect it. If you don't get it on just right, there can be some air-bubble problems, and my husband claims sometimes there's a glare, but for the price and the protection of the lcd screen, I think this product is well worth it. You definitely get your money's worth!!

These screen protectors are a PITA to put on, and have to be cut to exactly the right size. When you do get it on and lined up right (after multiple tries), there will invariably be bubbles under the screen. The card they give you to remove the bubbles scratches up the plastic so that by the time you get all the bubbles out, it looks like it's time to replace it already.

However, I will say that after about 10 months, which is how long it took me to go through a 5-pack, my cell phone's screen still looks brand new. I just wish I had gotten them here--I'm too embarrassed to say how expensive they were at Radio Shack!

Like any protective film out there, it is tricky to apply these thing. But once I have done it right, it works like a charm. It works on my iPhone and Samsung ethenity. I'm going to put it on my Sony camera too.

These were purchased to protect the rear display area of an underwater camera housing. They have a grid pattern on the backing that aid in cutting to fit. They're nearly completely transparent. I was able to get two protetors cut from one sheet. Good value. -Bill - Fellowes - Camera Accessories - Screen Protectors - Lcd Screen Protector'

Usb Wireless Adapter - usb adapter, wi-fi

When I received the Belkin Wireless N+ Router, I set it up it right in front of a window in my house. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CEYYFK/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title) Setup was super easy and I turned on 802.11b/g/n to all transmit/receive at the same time. I also purchased a Belkin Wireless N+ 802.11n USB Adapter (Black) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CF2TYC/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title) and installed it in my brand new Dell laptop. The combination worked flawlessly, setup was super easy, and the security was a snap to set up.

I received at least four lights all over our one story house including 80' away through a number of walls. My new laptop's built-in N-card/antenna did not work nearly as well as the Belkin N+ adapter.

I took the laptop and the Belkin N+ Adapter for a walk while keeping the window and router in my line of sight. At approximately 325' from the router, I still had full signal strength! I finally lost the signal about 380' feet from the router.

I also tried the Belkin adapter with a 7-year old, 512Mb ram HP laptop and got similar results - full signal at 325'. Belkin F5D8055 Wireless N+300Mbps USB Adapter (Black)

F5D8055 Very easy to install. Gets 270 Mbps through three walls (and around corner) at 60 feet. WORD of CAUTION: if you have Windows 7 do not use the disc to load driver. Download from Belkin Support to match V1 or V2. (it's on the adapter) I download it and was back online in less than 1 min.

Has worked fine. The router is on the far side of the house upstairs, approximately say 20-30 feet away through 1 bathroom, 1 closet and the floor to the downstairs where the laptop is. Have not used the stand yet, just have it plugged directly into the USB port on the laptop.

I purchased two of these wireless network adapters for two different Dell Precision 390 systems. They both are running MS-Windows XP Pro x64 (64-bit). According to the sales literature, technical support documentation, and technical support personnel, Belkin supports MS-Windows XP Pro x64 for this adapter. Unfortunately, the support did not come on the CD (nor did support for over half of the versions of Windows Belkin says it supports). Logging into Belkin technical support site, I found the drivers and software for the adapter, downloaded it, and successfully installed it (according to the application and its logs).

Unfortunately (second one, are unfortunately like strikes?), after rebooting the network adapter still didn't have drivers. The Windows Hardware Wizard popped up and wanted to find the drivers, which on the recommended automatic it couldn't find them.

I contacted Belkin chat support (POSITIVE thing they are 24x7 for networking). Unfortunately (ah, third one, does this mean Belkin is out?), all they could do is parrot what the documentation says. Download and install this program and everything will work. Ah, it didn't work? Surprise, you're disconnected. Connect back up via Chat and disconnect again. Third chat, third reference number, and disconnect.

Fourth person says he'll need to send this to the next level. (What does Belkin require to realize a problem really exists?) I'm told to expect a call in 24 hours. 27 hours later, still no call. I contact Belkin again and they say keep waiting.

46 hours pass from the fourth person and I get a phone call. I take the person through everything. I tried this on two different MS-Windows XP Pro x64 systems. I successfully installed the adapters (both of them) on a friend's Windows XP Pro x32 laptop, but that doesn't help me. I also tell him that after looking through the download program, I can say for sure, 100%, the MS-Windows XP Pro x64 drivers are MISSING!! They are not there, never have been there, and I want my drivers.

He says he will have to get back to me.

This is where I am at this time. All Belkin will say is it works, they keep asking me to install the drivers, their methods keep failing because the files do not exist, and they keep telling me to install the drivers. HOW? They won't tell me how to install the drivers without the necessary files!

UPDATE: It is the 1st of March 2011 and still Belkin is saying they support MS-Windows XP (all versions, I have Pro) 64-bit, but have yet to provide the drivers. I feel ripped off and robbed, as I'm stuck with products that don't work and are hence worthless!

I picked Belkin USB N Adapter at a great price during an Amazon lightening deal. I'd been looking for an inexpensive N USB Adapter for awhile but most of the ones I found were from brands I never heard of. Luckily I found this one from a reputable company like Belkin. I replaced an old USB B adapter and I get full bars now in the connection manager in Windows 7. My wireless connections are also more stable.

I have tried 5 different wireless adapters on my last two computers including two Belkins (my daughter broke the first one) and Belkin is by far the fastest. I bought this for use on my Vista machine, it installed easily and worked great until the computer itself died a month later. I bought a new computer with Windows 7, and discovered that the software that came with this adapter didn't work with Windows 7. I was able to download a Windows 7 driver and now we are back to very fast wireless action! This works way better (faster) than the Medialink and Netgear adapters I tried before this one.

Belkin Wireless N+ USB adapter is easy to install and works. I got both adapters to work in 10 minutes and there were no further adjustments needed. My kids need the Internet to work at all hours and I did not want to run network cables to the second story. I really enjoy the 6' cable that comes connected to the USB stand so I can place the adapter closer to my AT&T U-Verse unit. Signal strength is really strong and no dropped connections when going to MySpace type sites. There are less expensive USB adapters units out there but they do not deliver the quality that this has. This is money well spent. - Wi-fi - Usb Adapter - Belkin - Usb Wireless Adapter'

Moen - moen

I have always had faucets installed professionally by plumbers... they *always* recommend Moen as a brand... for me, it is only the Moen brand faucets that last years without any need for repairs. This is a *TRIM KIT*... Many different plumbing manufacturers will make their items as two separate pieces, one piece is the trim kit and another piece is the valve or rough in valve. Some manufacturers may even sell the handle seperate. The trim kit is the finished piece that is mounted on top of the sink (faucet) or on the wall (shower kit).

Here's what else you will need...

http://www.amazon.com/Moen-9000-M-PACT-M-pact-rough/dp/B000T7Q6OI/ref=acc_glance_hi_ai_-2_t_1 Moen T6620ORB Brantford Two-Handle Low Arc Bathroom Faucet without Valve, Oil Rubbed Bronze

Description is misleading. this does not have everything you need to install. When they say it fits M-Pact system I presume they mean that you actually have to purchase this seperately, but they don't tell you this. All you get is what is in the picture - handles and a spout, no pipes, no fittings...go to a hardware store and buy a faucet so you can check that you get everything you need.

Moen is a name you can trust, and this oil rubbed bronze color really updated all of our bathrooms. It is a trim kit. the reviewer who mentioned it does not have "all you need" must not have understood. it has the faucet, both handles AND the drain assembly. It is intended to replace a faucet you already have. if you have no faucet and are starting from scratch you will need all the internal plumbing.... ie: the full meal deal kit which costs around $330. if you are swapping out your old faucets for these this is what you need.

BEWARE! This is only the outside trapping. You must buy all the additional hose/pipes/connectors needed to install this. This is only the outside covering. For someone who is a layman, I did not know what a "trim kit" was. Which is why I gave 2 stars. The "trim kit" itself is very nice, solid, rich looking. - Moen'

Critical Thinking - teamwork, lesson planning

As a librarian for a company known for creative thinking and innovation, and as a school volunteer encouraging students to explore science and technology without fear, the approach and activities in this book really spoke to me. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of NCLB and standardized testing is the killing of curiosity in children. The open-inquiry learning advocated and clearly demonstrated in this book is an antidote to the lockstep, regimented instruction that is boring and losing our children at an alarming rate. Dlp Projector - home theater, 3d ready

I have used this item like 3 days and I bought it as a replacement for my old epson and as a complement to my benq... I have probed it in different conditions and I can describe it as follows...

At night lights on or off it simply works great in power point presentations and computer general use... the same for movies...When connected to the ps3 or my 360 images are not as good as in a lcd tv, but it was possible to play and that is normal if you consider that this projector is 800x600 and it is really cheap... When connected to my old xbox, my ps2 or the wii it works exactly as a tv, same quality... Anyway I would not recommend this unit to play new video games...

In day light conditions it continues working perfectly well... you can see the images clear even in an image 60" wide... terrific performance for such a cheap projector... I highly recommend it...

If I compare this projector to my other two ones (an expensive epson and cheap benq) I only have one thing to say... Why did'n this acer exist when I bought my first projector? This one is superior in all terms...

Acer x1161p is actually 2700 lumens, not 2500... in the economic mode image quality decreases let's say like 15% or 20 % in day light conditions but it is still ok...On the other hand, at night you cannot hardly see any difference...

If you want to buy a projector take this seriously into consideration... it's great.... And remember, a replacement lamp is only 128 bucks... Acer X1161P 3D-DLP Projector

Pros: Used mostly for presentations and occasionally to display videos, amazingly visible in a well illuminated room, minimal difference between ECO and normal mode so you can go ECO mode in any condition, cool feature to adjust light output to compensate wall paint color (so you can convert any wall into a real screen), 6000 hours lamp in ECO, low noise, very good scaling of non native resolutions tried 1280 X 800, 1366 X 768 and 1650 X 1080, I fed a 720p HD OTA TV signal of a soccer game and the picture was excellent, actually amazing for a projector in this price range, brilliant colors, lamp replacement around 120 USD, small footprint for a 2700 lumen device, very good option for a data projector at this price. Actually this is the second Acer projector I bought for my group, very satisfied with the performance.

Cons: * No audio.

* No buttons, the remote control slides in the projector housing to be used as the button station, so if you lose the remote you will suffer, so better keep the remote attached to the projector.

* Only 1 year of warranty, all other Acer projectors have 2, not sure why, however for less than 40 you can add 1 year of warranty.

* (Not a con, more like a suggestion) Seems like the auto keystone correction is too sensitive and may try to readjust the image every 5 minutes or so, that causes image flickering, so manual keystone adjustment is the way to go.

Other Thoughts: Acer is doing very good electronics at affordable prices, I have an Acer AMD laptop (4 years old now) almost indestructible and very reliable, 2 23" LCD monitors bought for less than 139 each, very satisfied with Acer, Keep the good work.

I'm really happy with this projector so far. I set up a diy screen in my backyard, and have had a couple pretty successful movie party's. Once the suns down, I can get a really good picture at over 100 inches diagonal playing a DVD off my laptop. Later in the year, when the suns dropping a little earlier, I'm looking forward to Monday night football in the backyard on my nine by five screen. The only slight negatives are the connectivity (vga or s video only),and the amount of heat the projector produces. But that's only a issue in a small room. Overall, great product for the money. Comparable to projectors twice the price.

Great picture great price. Picture doesnt fade when lights are turned on.

The bad things about this projector is no buttons on the projector (just a remote) and no audio source! I returned it because of this reason.

I initially debated between an LED projector like the Favi RIO and a lamp projector - so glad I settled on this one. Shows a great picture in a room with lights on, mainly using this for Disney movies and TV shows, as well as streaming netflix.

This isn't a 1080p image, so look elsewhere if you just have to have the sharpest image possible - but if you're just interested in watching good looking movies on a big screen this is your projector. For the prices it's unbeatable.

I bought a mount -PCMD Projector Ceiling Mount for Acer X1161P that works very well - highly recommend it for this projector - much better (and cheaper) than generic mounts.

Also bought 50' of composite cable for a tv signal from our tuner to the projector (we have an older tv that needed a digital tuner).

True, there is no audio in. No big deal. I bought a 2.1 sound system for $27 Insignia 2.1 Computer Speaker System NS-PCS21, used the aux in with a volume control for the TV tuner and DVD audio and plugged it into my laptop for neflix etc.

All of that for under $400 - a complete home theater system that I can also take outside during the summer for block parties or whatever. Definitely worth the money for my application (movies for my kids, netflix).

I was looking for a bright and versatile work-house projector and this is definitely it. Even with all the lights on in our room, and projected ~5 feet tall the projection is still easy to look at. Also awesome are the blacks, which are essentially indistinguishable from the surrounding ambient. (when showing a movie in letterbox, I don't see the top & bottom bars unless I really look for them) Once you turn the lights down a bit, then it really pops. As an experiment, I projected it out our window, and you could still see the movie (somewhat dimly) projected on the houses across the street.

I was worried about missing the extra resolution of more expensive models, but I haven't at all; movies look incredibly crisp and we run computer resolutions from 1024x768 all the way to 1600x1200 and everything is still readable when resized to 800x600 by the projector. (I almost never run computers at the native 800x600 anymore because the scaling is so good and it's like getting free anti-aliasing)

I wish the projector was instant off, but the 2-minute cool-down time goes really quick and is a lot faster than other projectors I've seen.

I see some rainbow effect, but it's only when I move my head side to side quickly; I wish it was a bit less but it's not a big distraction, and I haven't had any headaches from it.

In summary, know what you want. If you want a high resolution or refresh rate, you'll need something else; however, if you're looking for brightness and versatility, this is definitely a great choice. - Home Theater - 3d Ready'
