My iPod Touch 4th generation was out for a few weeks before I could get my hands on a screen protector, so I am glad to have taken delivery of these sheets. Really needed something to protect that expensive Retina Display. However, this is my first look at a matte finish on an iOS device and I am not happy with it. The sheets are marketed as antiglare, but I cannot say they are any better to read through in direct sunlight then having no cover at all, especially when then little beads of the finish are surrounded by a thin layer of finger grease, as is typical with an iPod Touch. And in normal lighting conditions, I'm constantly being distracted by the visual noise of the texture, with a vaguely rainbowlike color mottling.
The tactile nature of the sheets are nice and a pleasant alternative to the normal glassy smoothness of an iDevice.
Installation was easy. The manufacturer has decided to forego the normal hole cutouts for the home button and front facing camera and made large V shaped cutouts which leave both holes exposed as well as large areas of the bezel on the top and bottom. This was fine with me, as I use a Gelaskin skin which happens to cover those areas anyway, as would most any case. And once the sheet was on, it was pretty much glued on with little chance of coming off and being ruined.
So, except for my dislike of the visual affect of the texture, these are fine screen protectors. I just can't get passed the dislike. Scosche satinSHIELD 2-Pack Anti-Glare Screen Protector for iPod touch 4G (Clear)
This 4G iTouch anti-glare screen protector is the easiest I've used to install--be it anti-glare or not. The design with the v cutouts for the camera and home button enable easy install as you don't have to line the protector up perfectly with either the camera or the home button. The design also decreases the likelihood of air bubbles and increases the ease with which they can be smoothed out. Like all anti-glare screen protectors, the screen isn't as crisp looking with the matte protector on as without. However, the lack and ease with which fingerprints can be cleaned off makes up for this slight and hardly noticeable difference in picture quality. As far as the screen's effectiveness to prevent glare is concerned, there definitely is more anti-glare protection than a normal screen protector would have, but I have seen protectors that do a better job of cutting the glare. Overall, this screen protector will do what it is designed to do--protector your screen and cut down on the glare and fingerprints. The easy installation is what gives them my 5-star review.
The product was easy to apply, no bubbles and I like the v-cut around the camera lens and lower button. The anti-glare makes the screen less clear but if you don't mind that look it's a good product and of course, protects your screen.
The item reached as it estimated and in good package. It indeed consisted of two pieces of screen protectors. The screen protector fit my ipod 4g well and I managed to apply it w/o any bubbles (This my first time)even though I tried it two times by removing it then re-apply again.It didnt show any weird rainbow oil effect so far and it was smooth to streak your finger w/o any problem. I am personally very satisfied with this screen protector so far.
P/S:It sticks to the screen pretty well too even I re-apply for the second time...
I messed up the first one, then tried another brand I'd had for awhile, but there were bubbles out the wazoo, so I went back to try the 2nd satin SHIELD and it went on without a single bubble. I had to trim it a little on the side for my iPod Touch 4th gen, other than that I'm thinking about buying another set to redo it so I can trim it better to fit better. However, I'm happy with this protector right now.
I have an ipod touch 4th gen and I had bought a cheaper screen protector before this one that was pretty flimsy. It had a ton of bubbles underneath when I put it on. So I bought the Scosche anti-glare screen protector to replace it. As far as a screen protector goes, its great! It goes on easily and no bubbles. It is very durable. You don't have to be perfect when putting it on. The V cut on the top and bottom leave you plenty of wiggle room if you are a little off.
My only complaint is that this screen protector is not very clear. It has a very cloudy appearance. If it was clear then this would be the perfect screen protector. I don't really notice the anti-glare very much either. It might be slightly less glaring with this thing on but not much.
My final verdict is that this is a really good screen protector but the appearance is cloudy and noticeable. Its much easier to clean with it on and doesn't get dirty as often as without it. For what you pay it really isn't a bad deal.
Basically the other reviews are correct. The screen looks less crisp. Sure its super easy to put on since it has that peel one side and put on, then peel the top side thing going on. I just don't like that my screen is not completely covered. I keep thinking that if I ever take it off I will see my screen all perfect but with the exposed top and bottom kinda scratched. Also it does not go all the way to the sides either. there is the tiniest little border. I suppose this is for ease of installation but personally I want to work hard on installation so I never need to remove it. - Screen Protector - Ipod Touch 4g'
