Ipod 2g Glass Screen - repair kits, repair

First off, if you ever tried to repair one of these and you ordered cheaper one then you know that they make the digitizer thin and short. With this, everything went smoothly and I have the Ipod 2g up and running in minutes of taking the kit out of the mailbox. Super smooth install, the glass is clear and not the off clear you find with some. It comes with the whole kit. button, and all... pre asembled. Snapped in like a dream withough the normal plastic resadue. Immidiately upon touch everything was great. Been about a week and I couldnt be happier. No dead pixels, and no slow to touch. I reccommend this product. I have used many glass/digitizer kits but this is by far the best. Buy it and save money from return shipping and probably having to purchase another. Apple ipod Touch 2nd Gen Digitizer + Chassis Bezel + Pre Assembled

This is the best repair kit for fixing a broken screen on your iPod Touch 2nd Gen. This assembly comes with everything you need for the repair except tools. You can either buy the tools separately, or just use a jeweler's screwdriver to remove the old glass/bezel assembly. Watch some of the Youtube videos for technique.

The best part about this assembly is that it comes with the button and button cable already in place. The button cable does not come with any other repair kits that I found on Amazon. Re-use of the old button cable is questionable, and not worth the effort.

It was pretty easy to put in... just make sure it works before snapping it in. Because if the ribbon cable isn't connected properly, you'll have to take it out and reconnect it.. Also, the ribbon cabe is easier to break then paper. Be extremely careful with it. I tore mine and I don't have money to replace it. Lastly, make sure its completely snapped in by pushing all sides after installing...

I had a cracked screen on my iPod and was not interested in paying someone to service it. I'm a do-it-yourself kind of person anyway. I understand that something so inexpensive could possibly be problematic, but for $16, I could replace it a couple more times if necessary. I also ordered some tools, in case this wouldn't be the only time I needed to repair my iPod. I received the digitizer and the tools on the 18 of November 2010. I installed the same day I got it, as it only took about 10 minutes to take out the old, broken digitizer and put in the brand new one.

I was quite pleased with myself. Everything worked as if it were brand-new for about a week. Just yesterday (the 26 of November), I noticed I was having trouble typing T, F, G, C, and V. The slider also gets stuck when I get to the middle of the screen, if I don't slide fast enough. Thankfully, I can still type when I turn the iPod on its side, but it's kind of a nuisance, trying to figure out ways to use the iPod while avoiding the dead zone.

I will be purchasing another, hopefully, getting a better working digitizer. I've seen the reviews on this product. Most people have had great success with theirs. Perhaps I got a defective product?

***Update 13 December 2010***

I'm now having problems using the right side of the screen as well. This has been going on for about a week now. As it stands, I will order again, once I get paid this week.

I purchased this for my daughters ipod that had been stepped on in her jacket pocket, like one of the other reviewers had said it worked for about 3 months and that was it, the home button stopped working and trying to fix it again was pretty impossible. I would have been better off buying a whole new ipod.

After reading up on how to fix my cracked screen on my iPod Touch 2G I decided to get the whole thing pre-assembled instead of just the glass as messing with the adhesive seemed to be a real pain. After checking here on Amazon I bought the whole assembly from Closeouts Master based on the reviews and the price. My order arrived quickly and I installed it the same day. The screen looked and worked fantastic, but I had a problem with my home button so I contacted Closeouts Master via email. I quickly got a response and they sent out a new assembly. This second one arrived quickly and I installed it. This one looks and works just like the first one, fantastically! The home button also now works as it should. I would definitely recommend Closeouts Master to anyone else! Thank you Closeouts Master for a great product, I am so happy to have my iPod Touch repaired and working like it is brand new again.

Bought two of these for some diy repairs. First one worked like a champ! Install was easy and the iPod works great. Second one didn't go so well. Install was easy, but the screen didn't snap in correctly and the home button became dislodged. Then when I pulled it out to reset it, I tore the d@m! ribbon cable. Oh well. Chalk it up to experience. I would recommend this product, but also reinforce the caution that other users provided. Proceed carefully and deliberately and you should be ok. - Repair Kits - Replacement - Repair - Ipod Touch'
