When I was a kid, my friend's and I used to sit around in the back of my stepdad's pick up truck and play with the Magic 8 Ball for hours. (Retro - Classic - Magic 8 Ball Magic 8 Ball) We'd invent new ways to combine Magic 8 Ball with Truth or Dare, and ask our most sacred of inner questions that we wanted, no, NEEDED, answers to. Hey, we were kids, and so we believed in 'Magic'. LOL Sometimes the 8 Ball would fill us with delight and wonder, and sometimes make us angry enough to throw it. (A lesson you only need to learn not to do ONCE. LOL) We also invented a sort of betting game on what it would say. Will Ramey say yes if I ask her out? NO!!! LOL
Glee has come along in recent years, and restored some of that sense of 'Magic' all by itself with it's wonderful music and deeply heartfelt and funny plots. And so when I saw this toy while browsing through Glee items looking for key chains and stuff to put on my backpack, I was truly delighted. I didn't even hesitate, I just put it in the cart along with a few for some of those old friends that I'm still blessed to have in my life three decades later, and I hit the 'buy' button. LOL When the package arrived, my grandma was helping me with my illness one afternoon, and she said 'This package is talking!' LOL And so it was. All it takes, like days of yore, is to rub the 8 Ball and flip it over. And there are more than two dozen sayings from various Glee cast members. Some are hilarious, and ALL of them are as if they were MADE for the Magic 8 Ball. LOL Sometimes late at night I'll ask a question in my head, and automatically make that little bet like we used to, and ask the 8 Ball. I get a FRIGHTENING number of answers where it is the small snippet from 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'. LOL
Honestly, this is a VERY fun toy for the price. It can handle a good amount of usage from even younger kids, with probably only scratches to the paint. Assuming they don't get angry and throw it, it shouldn't break. LOL I think this is something a lot of kids and adults can have fun with, and even together, since it bridges generations so easily. I urge you to make your own betting game, or Truth or Dare 8 Ball. I loved the 8 Ball back then, and I LOVE the Glee 8 Ball now. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
