Digital Camera Lenses - canon, lens accessories

I am happy to confirm all the good things said about this lens hood by the previous posters. Also, this hood is deep enough to protect the lens and shield it from stray light. I used this hood when taking 1500 photos with my Canon 55-250 lens and there was no sign that it affected the photo in any way.

I am very impressed with Fotodiox as a supplier of camera accessories. I now have hoods for two lenses and lens caps, all very well made and purchased for a fraction of what I would have had to pay for the equivalent from Canon or other suppliers.

You will need a center-pinch lens cap if you use this hood. The Fotodiox lens cap sold by Amazon would be a good choice. Fotodiox Dedicated (Bayonet) Lens Hood, for Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 USM, II, II USM, III & III USM Lenses, Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Lens as Canon ET-60

Well, I'm impressed.

Once again, an aftermarket company makes a product that is the OEM's equal in every way, only at a much better price!

These hoods use the lens's bayonet mount, and can be reversed on the lens for storage, just like the ones made by Canon. They are the right length to prevent vignetting on their recommended lenses. I also bought one for my kit lens and it is just as nice as this one I got for my EF 75-300 II.

Great product, outstanding deal.

I have a canon T2i with the 55-250mm lens and this hood fits perfect. When screwing on/off theres a bit of resistence however not bad at all and it makes you feel that its on securely. I also like the fact that it uses the threads on the outer part of the lens and not the inner part. It also has "Canon ET 60" stamped on it so it looks almost OEM. Makes your set-up look pro. My friend has an OEM and he was amazed at how much money I saved. Great for an OEM replacement or to just save some $$ as most of us do.

The fit was perfect and it has already protected my precious lens as it should. Does shield unwanted light from the side. I highly recommend it for your 58mm lens. It fits my Canon EF-S 55-250 lens perfectly.

I've now purchased 2 products via this company I have been satisfied on both.

There was a mail snafew on this order. However quickly remedied with

small thoughtful bonus gift included...

The hood fit tight (take your time to thread it properly) material as good as OEM.

It's a no-brainer u can pay this price or OEM price and get the same thing it's your money.

This lens hood did not work for me. I do have a 6-year old Canon 75-300MM USM IS (Image Stabilized) lens, and I thought this was the lens hood for it. I've read other reviews stating that the fit wasn't that great, so to compare, I went out and bought the OEM Canon lens hood. That one didn't fit either. Since the OEM hood cost over $26, I did return that one.

If anyone else is having issues, check if your lens is the IS lens. If it is, do not buy this lens hood. You need the ET-64II.

Because this aftermarket lens is so inexpensive, it's not worth the expense of returning it.

I love this lens hood! I wish I would have ordered it three years ago! I've been using lens hoods on all my big lenses, but hadn't ever gotten around to getting one on my 55-250mm IS lens... What was I thinking?

The lens hood came early, was the exact item I ordered and works marvelously! Slipped right on first try, reverses perfectly as mentioned by others for storage. Love it! I take a lot of photos in the early morning and late evening sun and this is just what I've needed. I shoot with a Canon 100-400mm L IS lens quite a bit and never shoot without it. I've recently started using this 55-250 IS lens again quite a bit and man, I needed this lens hood. Very, very pleased.

Some people may need to know that the lens hood does go on very easily if you put it on the correct way. When it's fitted properly, the Canon name will be at the bottom. I've seen some people try to mount it with the letters starting to the right of the top, but they need to start from the left side of the top and twist down until it locks into place with the Canon name on the bottom. No problem if you do that!

Great accessory, don't hesitate, it's just as promised!

Generally speaking, I love my lens hoods from Fotodiox, and while I was a little disappointed in this one, I can't complain for the price. On the plus side, as usual, these hoods are much less expensive than the Canon-branded hoods despite being virtually identical in terms of shape, material, and build quality. I chose this style hood over the petal-style for the simple reason that I couldn't find a petal at this price.

I bought this to use with my 55-250mm lens, and I do notice some added vignetting with this hood at 55 to 60mm, but even then it's very slight. The hood is reversible, which is very handy with a hood this long, though using the lens with the hood reversed can be awkward and manual focusing is impossible while reversed.

Perhaps mine is a fluke, but it doesn't fit my lens very well at all. It's loose and never feels like it locks in place as my other Fotodiox bayonet-mounted hoods do. This hardly makes the hood unusable, and for what I paid for this it's no dealbreaker, but be aware that it may not feel as securely attached as you're used to. - Lens Accessories - Canon - Digital Camera Accessory - Lens Hoods'
