Dect Cordless Phone - uniden, 2-line cordless phone

DECT is far superior that the usual the 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, or 5.8 GHz band cordless phones in terms of range and clarity. I needed a two line phone and this one handles them with ease and allows flexibility in conferencing between lines and prioritizing which line is used first. The speakerphone is clear. The unit is compact. Programming can be complicated, commensurate with the sophistication of the phone. But if you are a wee bit technical savvy, the phone can be setup in minutes with the programming done whenever. Uniden DECT 6.0 Two-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID (DECT4066A) (Black)

I am very happy we purchased this model. We had an old Uniden line 1 model that was still working (5+ years old) and we decided to finally upgrade.

Uniden makes good products. The handsets are tough & I can tell that they are going to survive us dropping them here and there on the concrete ground.

I particularly like that its 2 Lines with out an answering machine (we have voicemail).

The handset is light weight and clips securely. If you have a cell phone you can quickly program the base station as well as the handsets...

We have a 2000 + sq ft facility and have not had any issues what so ever with this unit coming in. I think they are very crisp and clear when speaking on the phone.

I would highly recommend these if your looking for a good working line 1/line 2 cordless with no answering machine!!

Even though DECT 6.0 is supposed to be immune to interference issues with WiFi, this phone seems to make my WiFi environment "hiccup" nevertheless. Moreover, Line1 is very susceptible to a background hum if there is any WiFi activity anywhere nearby the base station.

On paper, this phone sounded perfect for my little at-home business. After 3 days of living with it, I sent it back and downgraded to the older TRU8866 model (linked below), which is superior in every place that counts for me. For starters, the newer-tech DECT 6.0 reception was surprisingly WORSE in my 2-story home than the trusty 5.8Ghz. The handset volume doesn't go high enough, and the tinny-sounding speakerphone is totally unusable for me on both the handsets and base station. While the lightweight handset certainly looks stylish, it actually takes more effort to balance it into its cradle than the old model, and would frequently slide out if I wasn't careful. The same is even more true of the accessory expansion handsets. This also prevented me from setting a handset down on the table for a freestanding hands-free speaker conversation- it's too thin to do so reliably. I found the glossy flush handset keys felt a bit 'Fisher-Price cheap' to me, but I should emphasize that nothing actually broke during my usage... I just was tempted to do so myself on a few occasions. I'd recommend getting the TRU8866 in a heartbeat:

I use this phone in my home office. I depend on it greatly, so it is important to be reliable and to have good voice quality. So far it has met my needs. I like the ability to have my phone directory on both the base and handset by only inputting the data on one or the other. It has been a great phone thus far and very much worth the price paid. I've only had the phone for about a month.

The Uniden DECT 6.0 is a good phone with decent range. I should note that the speakerphone is simplex, not duplex, meaning the other side has to be quiet for you to be speak. So it feels a bit like a delay and sometimes you step on the other caller, but this is just with the speakerphone use. If Uniden would change the speakerphone to duplex, I would give it 5 stars.

I have had multiple Uniden phones. I have been happy with them until now. I bought this one 5 months ago to replace an old Uniden 2-line phone. I am on my 5th phone - they keep replacing it but it keeps breaking. The clock loses time frequently and that is the minor problem. The handset often won't dial. I press the numbers but nothing happens. Five seconds or so later it sends the signal. Sometimes it doesn't send all the numbers you dial. I've also had problems with the speaker phone in the base - garbled sound as well as cutting in and out. Don't buy this phone!!!

Negatives:

Clock is not dependable; loses 1 hour or more every couple of days, not synchronized with phone company time signal.

Speaker-phone on both handset and base is terrible, cuts out if more than one party speaks simultaneously, making it unusable except for 'listen-only' calls.

Sound quality of speaker-phone is very poor.

Buttons on base station don't seem to work dependably.

Smooth buttons on handset don't have as good 'feel' compared to soft buttons on previous Uniden phones.

Positives:

Significantly longer range than my older Uniden model TRU8866

Black finish and blue lighting are preferable to the orange lights in my old system.

I thought I was upgrading my old Uniden TRU8866 system with this, but the older system was much higher quality in most respects. I would have been better off just putting new batteries in the old phone and forgoing the extra range. - Uniden - 2-line Cordless Phone - Cordless Phone - 2-line Phone'
