Ipad Screen Protector - ipad, zagg
These comments are about my use of the product with an iPad. The product was a little tricky to install. The adhesive back is quite adhesive ... this is like static cling material with an adhesive back. I found that more liquid spray, that came with the product, is better than less liquid when installing the product. It took a few tries to get it properly in place on the iPad, but I got it in-place. I tried it for a few days, but have now removed it. There is a slight visual distortion when the material is applied. I liken this distortion to what one may observe with a clear bra applied to a car. Also, there was some reduced touch sensitivity. It seemed to take slightly more finger pressure to operate the iPad. I think the product does protect the glass, but the visual distortion and reduced touch sensitivity led me to remove it. ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPad (Full Body)
It is a personal preference how to protect your electronics. I wanted something to protect but not obscure my iPad. Yes all invisible shields can be tricky to apply but I found this larger one (larger than my ipod & iphone shields) surprisingly easier to install than I feared. Do follow the other reviewers suggestions and make sure to wash hands and keep them moist throughout the process.
That said, once applied, the shield keeps fingerprints to a minimum, makes the back grippier and easier to handle plus cuts down on glare. So far I enjoy using the iPad more with the shield than I did without it. I can hold it up by placing one hand on the back (it sort of sticks to your hand) which is very cool.
You might find after a long period of use that the edges become dust magnets and the shield itself no longer looks its best. If so, Zagg offers a lifetime replacement--something I've taken advantage of in the past.
Finally, if you are in the San Jose CA area there is a cart at Valley Fair where they'll install them for you for a nominal charge.
After viewing their videos I purchased a zagg invisible shield. I like the idea of zagg, but it just doesn't stick like they say it will. It is ridiculously hard to install and you have to put WATER on the shield before you put it on your electronics, not a good idea! Even if you can get it on without getting fingerprints/dirt under it, the corners will start to peel away during use. Your constantly pressing down the corners and thinking "Stick! Please stick!" but it never does, so you get dirt trapped all around the loose corners. My main reason for this low rating is that after calling zagg to return my product under their "45 day guarantee", zagg informed me that I would be paying the return shipping and delivery confirmation out of pocket. Nowhere on their website could I find their "return policy". They want you to think you can try their product at no cost to you, but in reality that is far from the truth. Most companies ship return labels with products, this one gave me 30 digit number and told me to pay shipping/confirmation myself. If I wanted to be treated like an ebay customer I would buy from ebay. Dont let this company rip you off like they did me, I thought "I have nothing to lose by trying this product". I was wrong. I lost time and money.
I wanted to protect my new iPad, so I purchased a ZAGGskin and Apple iPad Case. Thinking that 2 layers of protection was better than one, I installed the skin and put the iPad in the case. After a few weeks, I decided to take the iPad out and clean it. It was then that I noticed that a blue color was leeching from the case onto the ZAGGskin. The blue color can be seen in the middle of the ZAGGskin and around the edges. I contacted ZAGG and got the following,
"I am sorry to hear that your ZAGGskin is discoloring. The ZAGGskin, with the invisibleSHIELD on top is porous and can absorb colors, and if the case you were using is blue, then that is what may have happened. I am sorry to say that the ZAGGskin only has a 45 day money back guarantee and it has been over 45 days. I am afraid that is why you are not able to order a replacement. We typically do not recommend using a case with our products.
What I can do is give you a 30% discount code so you can place a new order. The code is: XXXXXXXX and is good until July 26, 2011.
I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused you. "
That 30% coupon is worthless, because I can register for the ZAGG email newsletter and get up to 50% off codes. I just did and got a 40% off code.
I ordered the ZAGGskin Tuesday, June 8th. It shipped on Friday, June 11th. I received the skin sometime between June 14th-16th (6-9 days after ordering). I contacted ZAGG on July 23rd (The 46th day from order date). ZAGG replied on July 26th (49th day from ordering).
I'm not a happy ZAGG customer. I was planning on ordering other ZAGG products, but after this I'll probably be going with a different company.
Either Apple needs to do something about the iPad case or ZAGG needs to fix the skins. - Zagg - Ipad - Invisible Shield - Screen Protector'
