Nikon D3100 - nikon d3100, low light

This small camera is really good. Photo quality are excellent.

from ISO 100 to ISO 3200.

The guide mode is very good to set the camera to a particular situation.

The camera feels very solid. The autofocus 11 points is fast with the ViewFinder

You feels like a pro.

The results are superior than the D5000 or D90 at 1600ISO and 3200 ISO

The video mode is light. It is not a camcorder. But the video is good.

The sound is mono but I knew that. I didn't buy it for the video mode.

I already have a CANON HFS21 which is better than any DSLR.

The price is reasonable. you can buy the D3100 , 18-55, 55-300mm , 35mmf1.8, SB700 for

the same price than a D7000 ( which is not superior to the D3100 up to 1600 ISO. it is maybe

a bit better at 3200 and better at 6400 but not that far).

I highly recommend it. Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR & 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lenses

I received this Camera for Christmas, it was purchased from, adorama camera through Amazon, and it came with a starter case and DVD as well

This is an awesome camera for an entry level DSLR, in my mind Nikon's the best

I've had it for over a whole month now and I've taken over 2000 pictures already, I love this camera, the only thing is that the 55-200 lens that came with my camera doesn't have VR.

This is a great camera for someone just getting in to DSLR photography, as well as someone who has used manual 35mm film SLRs

It's a big step up from a digital point and shoot for sure, I took close to 500 pictures Christmas night without using the flash, and only 2 or 3 pictures were slightly burry, only because the subject that was being photographed moved.

I went on a short trip shooting pictures with a friend and he said it seemed like we went on different trips because of the difference in our pictures

Update: The view finder on this camera is not sealed, allowing dust, and material from the camera bag to get inside the view finder, and it is not covered under the warranty!

A full-featured camera, with plenty of things to learn- as a starting shutterbug, i have not found anything that I feel is lacking or substandard in this product. One thing that I have found that I am not clear as to the why is the limitation of 10 minutes or 2 gigs for video, but for this camera, video is a bonus feature, NOT a primary focus. If you want to have a long-recording video camera, then it really should be a video camera, not a DSLR.

I thought I wanted a little camera I could take in my pocket....so I got a Kodak 580, 14 megapixel ....It was horrible. 1 out of 10 pics were acceptable. I lost so many great chances with my kids and grandbabies. The Nikon D3100 definitely will not fit in my pocket, but it is so easy to use! I have not had a bad pic and we have shot over 800 since mid-December. I am excited about really learning this camera. So far, all I have used is the auto mode. If it does this well in auto , I can only imagine what I will get when I actually know what I am doing. This is a great entry level SLR, well worth the money. You don't get to buy back the memories you loose with an inferior camera.

OK so i'm a high school student who was interested in photography ever since i took my first photography class. I loved all the things relating or about photography. I always used to use some point and shoot camera but not anymore. I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA and couldn't be more happier. This is a superb DSLR for the money. It has FANTASTIC & CRISP IMAGES. I can't afford a 1,000+ DSLR so i bought this one. This still is a great DSLR. I currently own the kit lens but they still gives some of the best quality photos i ever took. i posted some of my sample images. One thing that I don't like about this DSLR is the 10 minute limit in movie recording but oh well. after all it is a DSLRR and not a camcorder. I plan to get more lenses and may post some test pics later on. Bottom line, BUY THIS DSLR, and never a canon.

I was searching for my first DSLR this Spring and after a lot of investigation chose Nikon D3100. Before I made my purchase I had came down to 3 choices from all cameras I looked for - Canon T1i/T2i and Nikon D3100. And I chose D3100 for its great and competitive features and equally important its better pricing as compared to Canon counterparts.

I brought Canon T1i first from local retail shop and used it for a week and I also took D3100 and compared both in home. I took different snaps with both Canon T1i and Nikon D3100. After comparing multiple indoor and outdoor pictures, I came to my conclusion that - T1i was slightly better than D3100 indoor but D3100 was way better than D3100 in outside snaps. Another factor was price which was very important when you chose on DSLRs because you should get the best value for your money. I found D3100 pricing better than Canon T1i looking at all similar features they are offering. Then I decided that I am going to keep my D3100 and return Canon T1i. Again Canon T1i/T2i are great cameras but for me looking at all necessary DSLR features I needed and pricing, I felt D3100 is best choice. It offers all important features that Canon T1i/T2i offers and some very new that are exclusive to D3100. And D3100 is cheaper than T1i/T2i so it is best value for money.

I am using D3100 a lot now and I have to say I made the correct choice. It captures awesome snaps. Its auto focus is OK- not perfect but not bad. It has great HD video feature but I dont shoot video a lot so I dont care on it. As far as picture quality and editing features, D3100 rocks as my first DSLR. I took extra 55-200 mm VR lens along with regular kit lens and all set is working great for me. Do get a good camera bag for your kit. I am enjoying in my photography world ! - Nikon - Low Light - Digital Slr - Nikon D3100'
