Macbook Pro - 1394b, firewire

I needed to connect my Firewire 400 peripheral to my Firewire 800 Macbook Pro. Staples had the necessary cable--for $50! No one should agree to pay that inflated price when you can wait a few days and have companies like Oyen deliver the same cable for more than 5 times less. Just say no! Firewire 800/400 IEEE 1394B Cable - 9 to 6 Pin (9pin 6pin) - 4FT

I'm of the opinion that pretty much all firewire cables are created equally. I had to buy this because the iMac that I bought only has Firewire 800. I think this is a much better solution than a connector from 400 to 800, that just seems like it would slow things down considerably. This is a really good length and I haven't had any issues with the cable at all.

The Oyen Digital people were very helpful when the post office made a mistake, I highly recommend them and their products. The cable itself is great to, worked perfectly for my needs (data transfer from old macbook pro to new mac mini)

This was the must have cable to share info from my older Mac computer with my new Mac computer. Apple changed the firewire port so this cable was needed.

I now have my photos and other stuff on both computers!

Couldn't beat the price either!

After buying the new MacBook Pro in December I discovered there is a new FireWire 800 port on the newest laptops and not a FireWire 400 port - which kept me from attaching all the previous peripherals with said 400 port. This cord will solve that problem. Good construction, easy to use, seems to be very high quality. I like that it is a cord and not just an adapter piece - which keeps me from either 1. having to carry a 400 cord or 2. plugging the peripherals in right next to the rest of the ports. The length of the cord is fine for me. I have it coiled and twist-tied up to keep it neat, which works for everyday use, but I can also make it longer if needed. I think I'm going to either get another one of these as a backup or look for another kind of adapter to have on-hand incase something were to happen to this one.

The cable is sturdy, of high quality, and comes at a very reasonable price. May be used to migrate data between old and new Mac computers, depending on whether they have the corresponding firewire connectors. Recommended. - Firewire 400 - 1394 - Firewire - 1394b'
