Lcd Screen Protector - galaxy s, epic

This is a great product. Realook really does a great job of protecting the phone while keeping it crystal clear. However, screen protectors do more than just prevent scratches--they affect the appearance of the phone and can even affect the touch capacity of touchscreen phones. I'll list some Pro's and Con's of why I think this should be one's screen protector of choice for the Epic 4G.

Pros:

+ Crystal clear, and when clean, does not affect the quality of the display at all. Feels silky smooth.

+ Easy application. Applying this screen protector is relatively simple--it's like the proper way you put on a band-aid. What, you never put a band-aid on properly? No matter, because Realook included some....

+ Extra tools. The product comes with a small cardboard tool to help push out any bubbles and some tape to remove any particles that catch on. Realook also included a decently-sized microfiber cloth to wipe the screen (4 x 5 inches), which is big enough to use on eyeglasses or computer screens. AND the microfiber cloth has dragonflies on it. I freakin' love dragonflies.

+ Price. Considering that you're getting a high quality screen protector (two, to be exact), you're getting the bonus tools, and there's dragonflies involved, $10.99 on Amazon is a great price.

+ It covers the entire face of the Epic 4G. Unlike the Sprint retail screen protectors, more than just the screen is covered. The four face buttons, the light sensors, and the front-facing camera are all well-covered by this screen protector. The light sensors and the front-facing camera are not affected by this screen protector at all. BUT, there is one problem with performance issues...

CONS:

- The Back button. Ever since I applied this screen protector, the Back button is less responsive. Sometimes I don't have to, but I have to press harder on the back button to ensure that it will work. It wouldn't be that big of an issue if I remembered to press harder on it every time, but it doesn't have to be that way. I've read of this problem before on the xda-developer forums, so I know I'm not the only one with this issue. And yes, I removed the screen protector and tested it without it on. On the plus side, through that testing process, I also learned that the screen protector is easily reapplicable. +1 for reapplicability.

- Fingerprinting. Geez, this thing is a fingerprint smudge magnet. I wipe it clean, play a few rounds of Fruit Ninja, Swype a few smiley faces to the ladies, and then bam, my pitch black screen looks like it needs another wiping. It's noticeable to me whenever the phone is off, but it's even more noticeable to me because I have a pitch black background. I must admit, I don't have dry hands, but I don't eat potato chips and french fries all day neither. The smudges build up, and eventually, it'll start becoming apparent on the more colorful screens.

Conclusion:

Realook taught me that I have greasy hands and I need to press harder on one button. Not that big of a cons list, and the first one I was already aware of. For $10.99, Realook's screen protectors for the Samsung Epic 4G are a great deal since they look and feel great AND they get the job done. Shoot, I'd pay more since dragonflies were printed on the microfiber cloth because that's just fancy. Dragonflies or not, if you own the Samsung Epic 4G, this should be your screen protector.

*UPDATE* (03/01/2011): I recommended these screen protectors to a friend (using this same item page), and I'm sad to announce that the recent version of the Realook screen protector package is missing a few things. For starters, the item no longer comes with a cardboard tool to push out air bubbles. Secondly--and most importantly, at least to me--there are NO MORE dragonflies on the microfiber cloth they provide. It's just a plain gray cloth that has "realook" printed on it instead of the dragonflies. Furthermore, the cloth is thinner and significantly smaller (roughly 3"x4"). Major loss. It arrived quickly, same day i received the Epic. I ordered it because the Other one available on Amazon was bit longer than the phone which my friend had used, so I decided to give this one a try.

Installation was easy, the bubbles are easy to get rid of, I found a tiny lint after the install, followed the instruction and got rid of it using a piece of tape. The film is very clear, as if it was never there, the same friend of mine who got the other protector ordered this one after seeing how well it fits.

Touch screen response is excellent; the only minor complaint I have is it attracts fingerprint, but can be cleaned easily. Since it is more like a plastic film than the rubbery film like some invisible shields, I am suprised that it did not have any tiny scratch while using the included plastic bubble remover. So it passed my initial durability test, i shall see how well it lasts after month or two.

It comes in a more expensive looking plastic container, so the chance of it gets bent during shipping is highly unlikely.

By the way, there are two films in the package, for the price and the look, it is hard to beat. - 4g - Galaxy S - Cell Phone - Epic'
