Wireless - wireless printer, printer

I bought this printer because it had the features I was looking for and looked like a bargain.

The wireless setup was relatively painless, but the wireless router forces a renew every day so we have to reconfigure the printer nearly every time we want to print (from Linux and Apple). Setting a static IP on the printer is not an option as far as I can tell.

The scanning capabilities have been pretty good.

The printing capabilities stink. Even as I write this review the printer is "thinking about" printing about half the time it never prints and I have to cancel. Pages are ejected onto the floor even with the pathetic piece of kickout plastic designed to prevent it. Sometimes a printed page is sucked back up into the printer causing a nasty jam with a page on top and bottom that's very difficult to clear. I know that sounds ridiculous and silly, but it happens.

The TouchSmart screen is not as useful as one might think. The only thing I've found useful on it is the Setup. Never tried the Copy feature.

Avoid this printer if you're looking for something reliable and won't frustrate you. HP Photosmart Plus Wireless e-All-in-One Printer (CN216A#B1H)

This is a brilliant little printer for the price. I got it to replace an aging OfficeJet that never played well on a Windows 7 home network. I followed the on-screen instructions and got the Photosmart B210 on the wireless network in a few minutes. I then downloaded the latest software (there's also a CD) on our three computers and had them all printing and scanning in about 15 minutes total. Everything worked, and I never had to refer to the printed setup instructions. Absolutely anyone should be able to get this up and running on a network in no time.

The B210 was an impulse purchase at a big box store, and my wife was... upset with me for not consulting her. She began to come around when I told her she could put it anywhere in the house, no wires needed. And then she printed some pictures, and they printed faster and looked better than pics from the old printer. And it's quieter. So by the end of the day she came around and said she's happy with it.

The ePrint feature (mailing a document or image to your printer) works as advertised and is easy to set up. This isn't a feature I expect to use, but it would be nice for owners of iPads and smart phones. The only feature we lost is Fax, but we haven't sent one in years.

I purchased this printer after looking on the HP website and looking at the numerous applications which were available for the HP e-series printers. What is not being stated is that this printer can only run a small fraction of the total applications available. No maps, no boarding passes, limited news etc.

What makes this worse is that there does not appear to be any easy way to determine if the applications that you want are compatible with the printer you purchased until after you register the printer on HP's web site. In order to do this you must unpack and use the printer - this makes it almost impossible to return if not satisfied.

I fail to see any reason that HP could not make easily available an list of which applications will run on which of their products before purchase. It appears to me that HP is deliberately hiding the poor functionality of their product so that the customer cannot make an informed decision.

To be fair, I did find the setup of this printer (MAC) to be extremely easy even though the manual leaves a lot to be desired. The print quality and speed is acceptable although nothing spectacular. I have tried to use the e-print function and it worked well on the email attachment although the cover page of the email was printed too small to be acceptable. Processing of the email took less than five minutes.

In summary, I would suggest that anyone considering this printer for the applications be very, very careful prior to purchase. Given the situation, I can find very little justification for replacing my previous printer with this model.

HP Photosmart Plus B210 Series I have never had a product that I hated so much. I purchased 15 of these printers for employee gifts for Christmas. I already had to return 6 of the printers. The problem is the power module. It does not work. Today, I tried to set up my printer and guess what? Power cord is no good. So this is number 7 out of 15 that did not work. Think twice before you buy this product. I could not even tell you if it prints nice, because I can't even start the dam thing up......

I agree with most of the other 3- and 4-star reviews written so far. So I'll try not to repeat what others have already said. I don't use the wireless connection, but it works fine over a Windows 7 wired home network. Good speed, good print quality, decent scanner, overall a good all-in-one for the price. I'm only writing this review to hopefully save other buyers a little trouble.

Be sure to order the 564 or 564XL Black cartridge and *not* the 564 or 564XL *Photo* Black cartridges. The photo black cartridges will not fit in this printer.

Also, the product description says, "Reduce waste by choosing an all-in-one that is shipped in an innovative, reusable tote bag." I found this ironic and not a little bit stupid, since the printer comes with way too much packaging already (cardboard box, styrofoam inserts, flat corrugated panels, plastic bags and twist ties galore), plus this completely unnecessary tote bag. The bag is made of cheap paper-like fabric and would not hold up for long as a shopping bag. And the printer is way too heavy to be portable, so you'd never use the bag to carry it. Completely wasteful. HP should be ashamed to include this junk, let a lone use it as a selling point. - Hp - Printer - Wireless Printer - Wireless'
