Dvd Recorder - dvd writer, lightscribe

I have had this drive for a little over a month now. I have burned over 40 DVD's and 20 CD's. I have only had a couple projects that failed. Both on lower quality Memorex discs. Never while using Verbatum discs. It is faster than my internal Super Drive on my 1 year old Gateway laptop. The internal drive had tons of trouble with DL DVD's and regular problems with any other type of media, were the LG just seems to burn through them with no trouble. (As long as quality media is used). DVD's burned on my internal drive would not allways play on my DVD player, or would pixalize regularly from poor burning. With the LG I have not had any trouble with that at all. I am VERY happy with the quality of this drive. For the price, you can't beat it. It also does a good job on Lightscrbe discs. Very good contrast compared to my internal drive. As a side note, I did not use the supplied software. I use Roxio Creator 2009 for burning, and Sure Thing for labeling. I find supplied software lacking in all cases, and would rather spend a few bucks on software I like. LG Electronics GE20LU10 20X LightScribe SecurDisc DVD+/-RW External Drive (Black)

For those wondering this does work with Windows XP & Windows 7. Opens and closes smoothly. Burns Cds & DVDs fast & perfectly. Takes 5 seconds for the Windows to actknowledge it. No extra software needed to operate this. No CD-ROM or download needed. Just a simple plug n play device. Doesnt come with any dvd editing software thou. Mine came with the power cord but not with the USB cable. Other than that I'm very satisfied with this!!!!!

I got the LG LightScribe external CD burner because we had to produce 150 CDs for a conference, and we weren't sure our laptop could handle that. The LightScribe technology was a new thing to me, but sounded promising. I did realize ahead of time that the label would be grayscale rather than any color, but to us the advantage of not messing with paper labels or a messy hand-marked CD was worth it. We had to go and find the software for the design of the laser-produced label, but that was quite easy. The result - our man burned labels on 150 CDs over 2 days (it took about 6 minutes or more per CD), then for another day and a half, did the content burning. It turned out that it took less time to do the actual content copying than to do the labels! We did use Verbatim disks, since they seemed to be recommended more, and had no problem with them. The only slight disadvantage was that the burner was a bit bigger than I expected, after being used to the very miniature CD burner in my laptop. It is about the size of a medium Bible, for those who can relate to that. But still, not bad. And we still have it for future use.

I got this when my laptop's DVD drive failed. This connects via a USB Cable to your PC and is easily recognizable on both Vista and Windows 7 (even on XP!). Drivers installed without a hitch and I was burning within 2 minutes!

Just got this burner in the mail yesterday, already burned 5 dvd's from my external hard drive onto disc, each taking about 5 minutes to copy. Superfast compared to my last internal burner which took about 45 minutes per movie.

Comes with several different software programs.

It should be noted or those who don't know, Lightscribe software is NOT included on the enclosed software disc. It is free to download on many Lightscribe websites though.

So far, no problems. Great looking drive, and super fast!

I love my LG Lightscribe. I've had it for a couple of years now. I've lightscribed and then burned approximately 400 DVDs and it is still performing like the day I bought it. It's plug and play right out of the box and I have not found any software that doesn't work with it. I feel I've already got my money's worth on this one.

I put a lot of faith in Amazon customer's reviews of products I am looking for. So when I needed a new DVD Drive for my aging laptop,I looked here first. I decided to give this unit a try. Could't be happier about the overall simple setup and compatability of this unit. Just plug+play, let the drivers get recognized by your P.C.,and your all set! It's that easy. Does everything well. A+ Product.

I bought this burner because I didn't want to use the one in my macbook. It stated on the box that it is Mac Compatible. IT IS NOT. Do not buy this if you are looking for a Mac Compatible burner. There is no support or drivers for mac on the website.

I bought this writer because I needed an external drive. The box says it is macable. Even though I have gotten the drive to work. It will not burn more then 2X.

After a long drawn out ordeal with General Electric. They have informed me that this drive along with any other products the make are not macable. They do

not support mac. They rely on the fact that a usb is usb. If you use mac do not buy this drive?

Purchased the LG Model GE20LU11 after reading the a review that indicated that the unit does work with XP and Windows 7. When the unit was delivered and I tried to install the included software on my Windows 7 computer it was a surprise to find the software was only for XP. Visted the LG site and found that there is no drivers or software for this unit that works with windows 7.

The unit does work with 7, but does not have all of the features the included sodtware provided. Not good. - Lightscribe - Dvd Writer - Dual Layer - Dvd Burner'

Laptop Bags - case, speck case

This is a really great case! It snaps right on and fits like a glove. Once on, you forget its there. It provides excellent protection as well and it looks GOOD! This case has a slight notch to accommodate the new 2010 MBP adapters.

Only con is that fingerprints do leave marks on the case. If that bothers you, you might have to wipe it down often. It doesn't bother me at all. But I wipe it down occasionally because it just looks slick when its nice and clean.

The texture of the case is really grippy. You don't feel like it will fall out of your hand. It provides good traction with hand when carrying it.

I recommend pairing this with the incase neoprene sleeve for maximum protection for those on the go. It fits nice and snug. I am a law student and I am constantly packing up and setting back up again. I carry this set up in my backpack and it provides good protection. Overall, I highly recommend this product. It is so well done, I'm really surprised Apple didn't come up with product. Speck See Thru Satin Case for 13-Inch MacBook Pro with SD Card Slot and 13-Inch MacBook Aluminum Unibody (MB13AU-SAT-RED-D)

Just got it. Snapped right into place. Fits like a glove and leaves the outlet areas uncovered. Excellent fit and finish. My brand new macbook pro won't get scratched and looks cool too. The apple shines through on top... Elegant cover for a beautiful machine!

This is a very nice product, fits well. I am giving it 3 stars mainly because:

1.It's EXTREMELY hard to take off, almost broke a nail trying to do so, and you have to be very careful when 'attempting' this because you might break one of the tabs if you pull hard, or even break the case itself.

2.The color was not was I was expecting, it was BRIGHT pink, although once I put it on it did not look as bad as it looked when i first took it out of the box.

3.No cleaning cloth included!!!

Overall I guess it's a good product, just wish it was easier to take off..

I'll give my opinions without going into much detail on the product's features, since you can find dozens of reviews for nearly identical products from Speck elsewhere on this site.

First, since this is the first review of this particular model... From what I can tell, what differentiates this product from previous models is that this one has a very subtle notch near the power port that allows the redesigned 2010 MagSafe connector to be connected in such a way that the cord runs away from the user. This is almost unnoticeable, but helps the MagSafe get a good, secure connection. This may have been existent on previous models, but I can't say for sure.

My general impression is that, while functional, this case will make your notebook seem less premium in a couple of ways:

1) The added bulk obviously alters the form factor of the notebook. To me, It's a worthwhile trade-off, since I can always pull the notebook out of the case when I want to return it to its sleek roots.

2) In my experience, the added weight that comes along with any case is particularly noticeable with the lid, and this one is no exception. While the Macbook Pro's hinge has plenty of strength to tolerate the added weight, adding the case makes it much easier to open/adjust/close the lid anytime it is working with gravity. I personally HATE a loose screen hinge, so while this case doesn't actually make the hinge any looser, it still bothers me that it FEELS looser.

Despite what may have seemed like a negative experience, I have found this to be a very good product, but not one without some drawbacks.

Other thoughts: As strange as it might look, I may end up using this case without the lid portion while I'm just at home, since most scratching opportunities will arise when setting the notebook down.

Bought this after I make an ugly little dent on the bottom of my Macbook and I love it! It protects my case from dings, dents and scratches perfectly. It looks sleek and modern with the matte finish. Tried taking it off the first time and had no problem. You just have to be careful with the plastic tabs. Great price from the seller too! A DEFINITE MUST HAVE FOR ALL MACBOOK PRO OWNERS!

This product is great! I'm glad I was able to find it on Amazon for about $20 cheaper than the retail price. When I purchased it, there was no cloth included (I'm not sure if that has something to do with the seller).

The case is very durable and I have zero scratches on my Macbook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2010). I'm glad to have gotten this case and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to prevent any scratches on their macbook.

I can't really tell the difference between the weight with the case on or off. The apple logo still shines through with the case on and the case has a GREAT feel. You must get this product!! - Macbook Pro - Macbook Case - Speck Case - Case'

Gps System Accessories - hardwire, cables

Used this to power my Garmin Nuvi 760 & 765. Anyone with decent techincal skills will be able to intall this perfect. Connect the red wire to 12v switched power. And Black wire to ground. Make certain 12v source is switched power to prevent a battery draw. Which will kill the battery if the Nuvi is attached while the car is parked.

I ran the wire to the glove box to keep the garmin chagred and ready to go when i need to use it. Garmin Nuvi Hardwire Cable (Mini-USB connector) for Garmin Nuvi

I installed this unit inside the headlight housing of my Yamaha V Star 950. After carefully studying the motorcycle wiring diagram, I learned there is a pre-wired connector for an optional light bar accessory. Since I wasn't using the accessory light circuit I determined it to the perfect location to tap into the motorcycle's electrical system. And the light circuit has power only when the engine is running so tapping in there will prevent the GPS from drawing power from the motorcycle battery when not in use.

There was just enough room inside my headlight housing to insert the 12V power transformer with the USB connector threaded out the back of the headlight housing. Next I plugged the USB connector into my GPS device mounted on the handlebar and cranked the engine. Viola!

I have no clue what would cause some GPS devices to switch into data mode. But my Nuvi 255 correctly switches from battery to direct current mode when the engine is running and switches back to battery power when the motorcycle engine is turned off.

Cars and motorcycles can be very electrically noisy environments. Spark ignitions put out around 20,000 volts and create high-frequency voltage transients which can run everywhere. (Ever notice ignition noise from nearby vehicles on your car radio?) The Nuvi is a 5 volt digital device which may interpret high frequency voltage spikes coming into the power supply, then bleeding across its circuitry into the Nuvi, as "data." TEST the power supply by hooking it to the battery with the vehicle turned off. If the GPS operates as it should, then the "data mode" problem is probably due to ignition noise, which may be fixed with something as simple as a picofarad disc capacitor across the 5 volt leads, or perhaps a pi noise filter. Either can be added inside the plastic power supply case (there's plenty of room). Making sure the vehicle's battery posts and all ground (to the frame) connections are tight and clean will help to reduce electrical noise. Using the factory-recommended spark plugs and wires generally reduces noise. Having an electronic ignition eliminates the sparking at the points and in the distributor. A noise filter was incorporated into the design; the supply has two filter capacitors. However there is noise and there is NOISE. If your vehicle has NOISE, you may need to do all of the above: reduce the ignition noise as much as possible and also add an additional filter. A vehicle which arcs and sparks at its points, distributor cap and plugs; which emits RFI (radio-frequency interference) from its high voltage cables; which has bad grounding; and which has an owner who refuses to fix the sucker; may never have a hard-wired digital device work properly. There is a tiny 2 amp fuse sticking up from this power supply's circuit board--so it does have a fuse--but it's not easy to replace.

Not a lot to be said, it works as it's supposed to (4 months to date) and gets rid of the annoying cig. lighter cord across the dash. I have the lighter cord stowed in the back so I can still take the Garmin with me to another car.

Bought this as a solution to hardwire in my Garmin Nuvi 255w. Product is great quality, however it puts the GPS unit into data mode making the GPS unusable while driving as it constantly boots into a synch mode.

I purchased this to power my Garmin Nuvi 750. I followed Ken W's lead and installed this on my V-Star 1300 Tourer. It also has an Accessory Headlight plug in the headlight housing. Unfortunately, I was unable to place the small box in the housing due to space constraints. Instead, I velcroed it to the top of the radiator just outside the headlight housing. I tested this on a 300+ mile ride and it worked fine. I still need to test it in wet weather. It looks to be well enclosed so should do fine.

I have had no issues with the operation of the GPS. Since it's hooked up to switched power, it starts when the engine starts (not when the key is turned on) and notices a loss of external power when the key is turned off. The unit prompts you to turn off or stay on and defaults to off after 30 seconds. So, there is no need to manually turn on/off the GPS.

I notices my garmin will work on a cell phone plug as well - however takes quite a while to fully get up and running. Using the correct voltage speeds up startup time.

I have these installed on 2 sleds and my cycle along with RAM mounts. Great setup. - Gps System Accessories - Cables - Hardwire - Dvd Recorders'

Blank Dvd Media - dvd media, blank dvds

I have already written a glowing 5 star review for the 25 pack spindle of these and will simply reiterate here that these are simply the best DVD blank media that I have used thus far.

I have used many different brands and must tell you that after burning to many tens of these disks I have yet to suffer a single error writing to them!

These burn very very fast at 16X in my pc computer's NEC ND-3500AG 16X DVD burner and also in my DMR-EH50S Panasonic DVD Recorder (through which I record content from the television to its hard drive and then after editing the content, burn it to DVD media).

I also want to let you know that there is extra storage space contained on these that I have not found with the many other brands I have used (including Taiyo Yuden, Philips, Maxell, Memorex, TDK)! I can squeeze more video and file content onto these Verbatim disks. That makes a difference in those critical moments in which I need to fit those extra few megabytes onto the same disk.

I will continue to use these exclusively until either the production quality goes down or they quit making them altogether -- I hope neither happens!

The price on these has been fluctuating lately, but no matter what the price, these are quite simply worth purchasing! It just so happens that at this particular moment (of writing) this 100 disk spindle has reduced in price to a mere $34.99. There is a $12.00 rebate for it as well!

After buying 3 25 pack spindles, I finally got wise and opted for the 100 pack. This should last me quite a while!

So get this 100 disk spindle now! I heartily recommend it to you! Verbatim 97460 4.7 GB up to 16x Branded Recordable Disc DVD-R (100-Disc FFP)

Verbatim makes a very reliable blank DVD-R that can handle up to 4.7 GB of data. Moreover, these blank DVD-Rs record data at speeds up to 16x. I have used these as data discs, discs to record video and discs to record video. I also get very few, if any, coasters.

The DVD-R discs are compact and easy to store. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your burn data onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your DVD-Rs that have data stored on them. Don't store these discs, burnt or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose data over time.

There are two caveats that many other people note about any brand of this product: when you are burning the data onto the blank disc, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than 16x. This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your DVD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the DVD-R disc and compromise your data

Overall, Verbatim blank DVD-R discs store data reliably and I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at 16x.

I have ordered and used two sets of these and have never had a bad one. However Amazon shipping department have gotten a bit sloppy lately with their packaging for shipment.

Seems like they just grab any ole box (mostly too large for the item, throws the item in with a bit of very large bubble wrap and away it goes.

In my opinion, this method of packaging rarely protects the item and most of the time, the item(s) just rattles around inside. My wife and I have ordered a lot of things in the past year and have received the last few packages in this manner.

Back to the DVD-R media. I ordered this plus a couple of CD-R media. Being heavy and rounded the DVD-R came in with a broken outer casing. Luckily it didn't come apart and the media scattered all over the place which could have easily happened.

So come on Amazon! I've given you folks lots of KUDOS for your service and customer satisfaction, however your shipping department needs to be straightend out as they've gotten sloppy lately.

My first 100 stack was flawless. So i ordered another 100 stack a few months later. My second stack started to have write errors about a 1/4 of the the way down, and hoping that it was only 1 disc I pulled another DVD towards the bottom of the stack with the same results. I have so far burned 5 duds in a row with DVDs from various levels of the spindel. I've sent Verbatim support an e-mail hopfully to get a replacement, if that doesn't work i guess ill see if Amazon will make it right. - Dvd Media - Blank Dvds - Verbatim Dvd-r - Blank Dvd Media'

Stainless Steel - automatic movement, invicta watch

It could well be a little bit early to write a review as I've only had the watch for a short time, but I don't mind sharing my experience.

First of all about the delivery service: It was extremely fast and accurate. I received my watch four working days from ordering it. That's not too bad, if you think about it, as I a live in New Zealand. I should also mention, although you'd expect this to be a bare minimum, that I also got WHAT I ordered. That doesn't always seem to be the case.

The watch itself is a very nice-looking piece, probably more attractive in life than on the photo, it does not look like a cheap look-alike. As for it's performance: It does indeed gain time, but not more than a couple of seconds a day, it seems to add up to about half-a-minute in a fortnight. Personally, I can live with that. From what I know this is quite tolerable for an automatic...

It also feels sturdy and well-constructed, I haven't had any quality issues with it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

30 October 2009

Nothing really changed.

The watch still looks and feels great, no issues at all. Running a bit ahead of time shortly changed to (and stayed at) running approx. 1-2 minute/month behind. Again, I don't think that's too bad. If I wanted something very precise I would buy a quartz, in which case I may lose it if changing the battery is done by some moron - as it happened to me before.

So altogether: Having had it for a year-and-a-half now, I still recommend it to anyone who wants a good-looking reliable watch and doesn't mind adjusting it every now and then. Invicta Men's 9094 Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch

The Invicta 9094 pro diver watch looks like $5,000 of watch hanging on my wrist. It's nothing short of stunning in saphire blue.

It's a tough watch and good for people who have outdoor jobs or peform dynamic tasks like engineering test work.

The stainless steel bracelet gleams and the watch keeps good time. The bezel also turns easily enough. It is not a "coin edge" like Rolex uses, but "scalloped" like an Omega. That means the wearer cannot turn it from the side like a radio knob. You have to use your thumbs and press down slightly to move it like a wheel, which, of course, it is. There have been some complaints by other reviewers about the Invicta bezels not turning well, but the three Invicta dive watches I've purchased turn with ease after a little use and practice.

To recap: Absolutely stunning looking watch at an affordable price. People will notice it and it works well as a tough watch to stand up in extreme environments.

This watch is very nice looking and has a solid feel to it. So far its keeping very accurate time. It is a bit chunky so if you have overly small wrists it may be a little bit big but I have smaller wrists (6.75 inches) and I can get by wearing it. Three negatives, it is a hair puller and the edges could be a bit smoother and the clasp is impossible to open for me unless I use something sharp to POP it open. I have fingernails and it's still difficult to open. Overall a great watch for the money and the packaging is beautiful.

EDIT- on a side note do NOT expect good service from Invicta. They do not answer emails (do a search, they are known for ignoring emails). Once the sale is made they could care less so be prepared. The kool-aid drinking Invicta lovers either A. had to never deal with them on a service issue or B. are so brainwashed they look the other way. I sent them over 10 emails over a 2 month period and not ONE reply. I am not alone. These companies that do not reply to email should just get rid of their email system. ShopNbc also has a special email address for Invicta customers and same thing, no responses whatsoever. I had to email Citizen twice and both times I got a response in less than an hour. From now on I will only by from companies who respond to a customer. Just a forewarning.

Bought an automatic Invicta pro-diver from Shop NBC and it arrived with the Crown broken. I sent it back and got a refund. I then decided to give Invicta another shot. I purchased this watch and it looks very nice. The band is a bit noisy and the clasp is very cheap. It gains a few minutes a day for some reason, this happens even if I take it off for a 12 hour plus period of time. I searched the web for tools for sizing of the band and decided to make my own from an old mini- screwdriver, a grinder and a vise. It was suposed to have the Invicta polishing cloth in the package, it did not. As far as the watch being a great value, I don't really think so. I think they are mass produced junk. People compare them to Rolex and Tag all of the time. Well, I own both of these watches, and let me tell you.......it is nothing.....and I mean nothing like either a Tag or a Rolex. Save your money, get a real watch.Bill Wild Willy)12-17-09-UpdateWatch is still working, and gaining time each day. The band/clasp that rests on my desk at work is very scratched and starting to look like an old watch. The front and the crystal are like new. Must be a very low grade stainless used on the band, but, I suppose I knew that based on the sound it makes.01-7-10 - Watch is working great, I like it more the more I wear it. It may gain time, but my Rolex loses time at about the same rate, which drives me nuts. It has turend out to be a pretty rugged watch..... I am changing my views on Invicta.10-3-11-Update

I have encountered a new problem this past year. The watch pins keep breaking and the watch keeps falling off. Each time I go to the jewler store and get new ones only to las a few days. I need to find some heavy duty pins, watch is too heavy for the pins it came with origionally. And all the new ones I get are even worse. Watch still gains a couple of min a day time which I dial back. No scratches on crystal yet, pretty durable. You get what you pay for. - 9094 - Automatic Movement - Invicta Watch - Invicta'

Rechargeable Batteries - emergency light, camping

I have been a long time believer in only using propane lanterns when car camping. Previous battery operated lanterns with florescent bulbs that I have tried have always lacked for sufficient light to eat by let alone cook or setup a tent with.

But, then I discovered the Coleman LED Quad Lantern and everything has changed. This is, by far, the best camping lantern I have ever used! Not only is it super bright, it is smaller and more convenient than a propane lantern - especially since I no longer need to tote around gas canisters.

But, this lantern is more than just a lantern; it provides for personal lighting needs as well. Each of the lantern's four light panels detach and work as rechargeable hand lamps for that rummage in the back of the truck for gear or the scramble to the bathroom site in the middle of the night. And, with a 1-1/2 hour charge time, that makes these light panels useful for reading in the tent, etc.

It is not only this lantern's overall design that make it great, but the attention to little things as well. For example, the rechargeable light panels are powered by AAA rechargeable batteries. Unlike other rechargeable light systems where the battery is sealed and inaccessible, if a battery eventually fails, it can be easily replaced with a matching, off-the-shelf rechargeable battery. The lantern as a whole is powered by D cell batteries.

No more propane, no more broken mantles, no more trying to light a propane lantern in the dark. The Coleman LED Quad Lantern is the lantern of the future that I bet all competitors will try to copy. Coleman LED Quad Lantern

I bought this for my father as a camping lantern, and he's been totting it around to family get-togethers, he likes it so much. We have NOT been camping yet, but we've tried it out in window-less rooms and I have to admit that it puts out quite the amount of light (which is a relief, since the lumen count is lower than the CFL Coleman lanterns), and it isn't too harsh to look at. There are diffusers over the LED's, so while they ARE bright, they aren't painful.

One interesting feature is the main base overrides the panel settings. Thus, if you have a panel turned on, plug it into the base, and turn the base off, the panel turns OFF. Then if you were to remove the panel from the base, the panel setting would kick in again, and it would flip on. Similarly, if you turn a panel off, and plug it into the base, it will use whatever setting the base has. This means that you can't turn off individual panels on the lantern BASE. However, this also means that you don't have to turn off the panels individually, so I guess that evens out.

As a previous reviewer said, the NiMh batteries in the panels will lose charge over time (NiMh hold charge for 3-6 months), which means there will be a slow but continuous drain on your D-cell batteries while in storage. If you are using this lantern for camping, simply remove the D-Cell batteries during storage and then load them back into the lantern when you are loading your car, SUV, RV, etc. By the time you reach the campsight, the panels will be charged.

You CAN replace the batteries in the panels, but ONLY put rechargeables in there! You might be tempted to throw in some alkalines in the event that the D-Cells drain (meaning, you used old D-cells in this, you aren't going to drain it in a weekend, even if you left it on all weekend), but don't do it. That's like throwing an alkaline in a battery charger (which causes it to overheat).

All in all, I haven't found any flaws yet. There is even a handle (you can see it in the picture) on the base unit so that you don't have to carry the lantern by the panels, though you'll find transporting without the batteries in it to be much more convenient. 8 D-Cells ARE a bit heavy.

Brightness:

When all four panels are attached to the base, the lantern puts out a great deal of light. It will illuminate a campsite with ease. The individual panels when detached put out an adequate amount of light. Great for a trek to the restroom or the back of the truck to fetch some gear.

Portability:

The 8D batteries in the base make the lantern a little heavy. But each panel when removed is extremely light, as they only contain a small rechargeable battery. There are plenty of handles at the top for easy toting.

Battery/power:

I've used my lantern several times and have been very pleased with the runtime of the battery. In addition, it seems to take a long time away from the base before the panels go dim.

Summary:

The lantern is expensive compared to other battery lanterns, but it is well worth the money. My family loves it!

I purchased the Coleman LED Quad Lantern primarily for use during power outages. (A timely purchase, as it subsequently turned out.) The quad configuration makes this lantern ideal for space illumination. The LEDs provide exceptionally bright and fairly uniform lighting. What really sets this lantern apart from competitive units are the four detachable LED panels. We used these panels for personal lighting during a recent trip to the mountains. Each panel provided superior general illumination as compared to the typical flashlight. We also own Coleman battery-powered fluorescent lanterns. This LED unit is no heavier (with batteries installed) and is a superior general light source.

I love this lantern, it's a little expensive but it's worth every penny. It lid up my camp site for 3 days straight with no problems. The lights are bright and durable, I drop this thing a few times and it kept working. The only negative is you can misplace an attachement easily.

I agree with the other great reviews about the design and but I feel the lantern has one fatal flaw. The plastic they used is cheap and brittle. If you try to pull one of the panels off without pushing the release button, the tab that holds the panel will break off and you will have a LED TRI Lantern + a lighted panel. This happened right when we took it out of the box. Granted, I know now you are supposed to push the button to release the panel, but keep in mind when you hold the lantern you are holding it by the panels, and with 8 D cells in the base it is only a matter of time before the tabs will break with normal use. The same cheap plastic is used at the base and I would bet a very minor drop would shatter the base. It is simply not durable enough as a camping lantern. - Lantern - Emergency Light - Camping - Camping Lantern'

Battery Backup - computer power backup, uninterrupted power supplies

I've used Cyberpower UPS for years as I live in a suburban area subject to frequent blackouts lasting from several seconds to several days. I use Cyberpower UPS to keep my TiVo functional, keep my FIOS modem / wireless router running, and keep my iMac bittorrent server running. I've never been disappointed in Cyberpower's products and the single time I needed warranty service it was rapid and complete.

My brother has multiple handicaps and uses his laptop as his primary entertainment point. Recently his area (not far from my home) has begun suffering blackouts of several minutes to several hours duration. He asked me to select an UPS to keep his DSL modem / wireless router running. Of course I turned to Amazon and selected this model from Cyberpower.

The Westell's wall wart consumes around 7 watts. When this arrived, I charged it for 8 hours then pulled the plug with a 15 CFL lamp on the backup outlet. An hour later the lamp was still lit and the UPS wasn't indicating pending shutdown.

As to the green claim, it stands up. I am a 56 year old tech geek and purchased the P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor from Amazon back when it was introduced. I used it to measure the watts drawn while charging then in battery maintenance. This unit does consume far less power maintaining the battery as compared to the standard CPS425SL.

Some of my Cyberpower UPS are more than 7 years old and only now are needing their batteries replaced. Battery replacement is simply removing 6 or more screws from the bottom of the UPS models I own, opening it up, unplugging the old battery, then reversing the process to install the new battery. It takes less than 5 minutes from the time I unplug it from the electric outlet until it's plugged back in and ready for service. Please be sure to observe all safety precautions when replacing the battery.

I also own UPS systems by APC and recommend them also. They offer higher output with less runtime and I use them for my quad core systems.

For the more than 2 hour to multiple day outages I purchased an ETQ generator from Amazon and a Reliance Controls transfer switch. I recommend these products for extended outages. CyberPower CP425SLG UPS Standby Green - 425VA/255W 8-Outlet RJ11 Compact Design

I had a power outage during a lightening storm. When the power came back the PC that was connected to the (3 month old) Cyberpower UPS/Surge Protector stopped working. I applied for a refund for the cost of the PC, under their equipment warranty. They made me fill tons of paperwork, made me spend 40 bucks on a diagnosis from Geek Squad(who confirmed that my motherboard was fried). After all that hassle, and mailing them the old UPS back, they claimed that their UPS had functioned fine, and refused to pay me anything. The way the refund process is setup, they can pretty deny anyone a refund. Not only does their equipment not handle a lightening surge, their equipment warranty is not worth anything.

Unit works as advertised but unlike me, pay attention to the 255 watt maximum. I glossed over that important point to my regret; I've ordered another unit with 500 watt capacity. My system quickly overloaded the 255 watts and it turned off. I have a system with quad core, multiple LCD monitors, external hard drives, etc. This unit is for basic systems with one monitor.

I recently had the power fail, and this UPS kept my modem and wireless router running for a while. Unfortunately, it beeps every half second when the power goes out, and there's no way to silence it. Other than that annoyance, it works great, and would get 5 stars.

If you graph power problems - power surges are rare. Why? The utility doesnt want to be sued! What they have lots more of are called a recloser. The recloser works on their 12,500 volt lines and above and it's purpose is to clear a fault on those high voltage lines. The way it does this is by opening the 12,500V circuit for exactly 1 second then closing it again. It will do this 3 times in a row before opening for good causing a power failure - at your house you will see your lights flash for 1 second 3 times in a row before a power failure hits. This is the most common event on the power lines that will hit your house.

Now a surge supressor will shut down your computers when the power quits as well as your other equipment. So everything gets on/off cycled 3 times which is a great way to kill high end electronics, yet the surge supressor lets these momentary outages go right through.

The same thing happens with the monster power conditioners (all models) - see during that one second opening of the recloser they have no power to condition - so again all your expensive equipment gets the on/off treatment 3 times in a row.

Now with an uninteruptable power supply such as the cyberpower (or any other UPS) those 1 second outages are filled in with the power "made" by the UPS's batteries. They don't use much power for 3 one second outages, but during those outages is when your unit's batteries supply power and make things normal for the equipment downstream. In fact, in most cases the power is restored by the recloser and all you hear is a couple clicks while the unit fills in for the missing voltage providing power and preventing data loss.

It's ironic that you can spend over $1000 for a "power conditioner" that can't do this, but for 1/5 that price get a device that protects against the bad power at the same time as the no power condition. These are great friends during storm season since if the power does not return you have time to shut down your important work and your computer, or if you have an autostart generator, your ups will keep things going until the generator kicks in (they take 5-10 seconds to warm up and start)

Anyway you look at it this device provides more protection than items costing 5x more. - Uninterrupted Power Supplies - Back Up - Computer Power Backup - Apc'

Pc Game

I have owned and played each game before on different platforms and have since sold them or they wore out. I was pleased to find this set of two of PC's best games IMO. I currently own a Desktop with Windows Vista 64 home installed. I had trouble installing Deus Ex and wondered if it was a bad copy. I found help while searching the web. My PC was getting stuck on the Video Zip file, the Audio zip file, and the Maps zip file. I forget the proper names for them but you can get passed this by starting up the Windows Task manager, look at the processes and stop each process as they have trouble. I'm thinking it is the Video.exe zip, Audio.exe zip and the Maps.exe zip. After that, the game will finish installing and you should have no more trouble. I'm enjoying playing these titles all over again. I gave the product 5 stars due to the fact that I've played it before and know what to expect. If you're new you'll more than likely be disappointed by the graphics and audio. I would recommend this title to anyone who has played it before. When this came out this was considered top notch graphics and the in depth role playing and character development was unsurpassed! Deus Ex Complete

Deus Ex: Invisible War loads and plays fine in Win 7. But original Deus Ex (the game I bought this disk for) loads fine into Win 7, but looks for the DVD when launching, and doesn't find it. I've moved the DVD to various external drives as well as the internal DVD drive in my laptop...the game doesn't find it when launching. It's probably something that can be overcome by a tweak somewhere, but darned if I know what needs to be tweaked. So good luck to you if you choose to risk purchasing this for original Deus Ex. Doesn't work for me.

I've had both of these games for a while now. Of all the games I've played, these are two of my favorites. In both of them, you can take a head on shooting gallery approach, or you can take a stelthy approach, or a mixture of both. Personally, I take a steathy approach, it conseves resorces. A mixture would be a little more exciting, but the head on approach is more likely to get you killed than not. The options in these games are vast and each has multiple endings with quite different results.

Most of the fans of these games actually prefer the origional game because it requires a lot more envolvement in finding clues, access codes, etc... The first game does sort of lock you into a particular path about mid-way through, but it's got a great story-line to get you through it. There are some points in the game where stealth is the ONLY option until you get rearmed. There are some side missions that aren't exactly required, but they fill in some details for the story-line that clearify what's happening.

In the second game "Invisable War" It's like 50 years or so after the origional game. It is based on a particular outcome from the first game, but has a lot more choices as you progress through the game. I tend to play my way through as nutral as I can until the final sequence. Then I pick the faction I wish to back and eliminate the rest. The end results are all facinating and vastly different.

I highly recomend these games! And if you like these you'll defenatly want the third installment coming out soon. Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The third installment actually takes place before the origional game, but I understand it's going to be a great deal more extensive with a more dynamic story-line based directly on your actions, and choices in confersations. You can pre-order through Amazon.com or some other sites depending on the pre-order options you want. Check out Deus Ex: Human Revolution Also check out their site at [....]/

If you like these, you'll probably like the Thief series, also by Eidos. THIEF Collection (The Dark Project, The Metal Age II, and Deadly Shadows III)'

Reconditioned Tools - nail gun, combo packs

I wasn't completely sold on this tool when I bought it. I was leaning towards the Dewalt 18 volt brad nailer, since I had the Dewalt 18 volt 16 gauge finishing nailer, which was a game changer. Anyway, didn't even know this tool was out when I bought it a month ago, and wasn't sure I would like the gas/battery design versus just a straight battery design like the Dewalt. However, I did like the design of the gun and especially liked the weight. This gun is almost half the weight of the Dewalt, 7.4 pounds, versus 4 pounds, and it is noticeably better balanced.

Driven a 1000 or so brads, no jambs using good quality brads. The tool-less depth changing knob works very well, turning produces exactly the right quality of change in the height of the brad.

Decibels produced by the gun is less than my Dewalt finishing nail. Obviously there is a slight gas odor that is associated with most guns of this type, but it is minimal.

Comes with a great case, 2 batteries, protective glasses, and mine surprisingly came with a Hitachi 3.6 volt screwdriver. Not sure all these come with this item, however mine did. Be sure to watch who you buy this from, I wish Amazon would carry this directly. I buy almost all my tools from Amazon, no problems. Just be sure to look around for the best price. Hitachi NT50GS 18 Gauge Gas Brad Nailer

Well, popped for this spendy tool as I thought it seemed like a good idea, wanted to avoid the tank, hoses etc. It is a fairly complex tool that uses small gas cylinders which one buys separately. We got the nails, we got the gas, and it did not work. The machine turned on, the nails fit (I bought Hitachi nails just in case), but when the trigger was pressed, the gas made a big release, but no nail came out. The good Hitachi guy on the phone had me try some things and then said that it was defective. I returned it for a refund.

Every tool i have purchase always come ready to use even if in limited quantities-- not this one ( No nails No fuel cell )and most stores don't have the fuel cell.Had to order on line a shame that i have to wait spending time and gas trying to get the fuel cells.

Owned an older (black)passload and it worked great for over 8 yrs Now no parts for it-

Anyhow looking foward to using it..- it does feel lighter - Combo Packs - Cordless Nailer - Nail Gun - Air Compressor'

Project Management - lab notebook, laboratory

I've purchased one of these at the beginning of every year for more than 10 years. I use it for work notes, lists, private commentary, whatever. And I refer back to the previous journals often (moreso as the years go by, it seems). I fondly refer to these as "my brains" and, in a way, they are because writing things down helps fix them in memory. 300 pages is just about right for me for a year of notes and I've never had one of these fall apart or even show much wear, even though I travel a great deal and haul them in and out of briefcases and backpacks. Boorum & Pease Special Laboratory Notebook, Record, 300 Page, Black/Red (L21-300-R)

I have been using these as log books and personal diary for about 20 years, I'd bet. The price just keeps going up and up, but I keep buying them. Exceptional quality, paper is top quality. Very ruggedly bound and the place keeping ribbon NEVER comes out of the binding. Get the 300 page one - it's worth it and you probably won't overfill one book in a year.

i love these notebooks!

the 300 page book is perfect: i buy one each year.

PROS:

1. security pages

2. notary signature and date

CONS:

1. the binding wears down pretty quickly (i have to tape mine after about 7 months of use)

4/5 if they strengthen the binding then it will easily be 5/5 - Record Book - Lab Notebook - Laboratory - Record Books'

Rotary Tool Accessories - dremel, sharpener

The Dremel lawnmower blade sharpener works pretty good. But only as a midseason blade sharpener. Be careful sparks fly all over the place with this tool. If your blades are really dull take them to the pros but at midseason this tool will help put the edge back on a mild dull blade. Buy extra 932 grinding stones because you'll go thu them quick. Dremel 675 Lawn Mower and Garden Tool Sharpener Attachment

I got one of these with my dremel tool. It works, but I really think a dremel tool is underpowered for sharpening applications. I spent some time trying to sharpen my shovel with it and finally gave up and grabbed a file and had it finished and a second shovel in less time and with far less noise. Let's face it, neither shovel or lawnmower blades need to be as accurately sharpened as a knife and a file will work handily, cost the same and last longer.

I'm sorry to see the other poor reviews. I have had this for years, and it's worked great every time. I have a push mower (Toro Super Recycler), single blade. The blade fits snugly into the plastic guide, and it sharpens quite well. No complaints. It saves me a lot of time, being able to sharpen myself, any time of season, as opposed to manually sharpening with a file, or taking somewhere to have it done.

Nice product, but you have to have the dremel with the male threads to attach the adaptor. Simple to use and quite effective. Set the dremel to 3/4 spee and you will need to make several passes especially if the blades are really dull (like mine were). Took me about 20 minutes to do all three.

If you have a Dremel tool and any kind of metal tools with an edge then you need this. I was skeptical, but found it works really well. It takes a little while to get used to so I recommend to learn on the less important tools like a shovel you rarely use or don't care if you knick it.

The grinding stone can bur into you edge if you aren't careful. And it's kind of hard to turn around the angles of a blade. But this sucker will sharpen every tool you have from the lawnmower blade to the axe to the sling blade (some people call it a keiser blade).

I got this with my Dremel XPR and I was actually looking forward to trying it out, as we have an old hatchet that despretly needs sharpening. I put it on and I went to get the hatchet, and the little slot that the blade goes in was just a little bit too thin. So I finally got it in and I turn on the tool and in a shower of sparks it starts working, but I couldn't get it to move, so now I had a gigantic dent in it, I eventually got the hatchet sharpened without the attachment. and much better, too. I haven't tried it on the lawn mower yet, though. But it doesn't work well on anything besides shovels for me.

i have the dremel lawnmower sharpening tool 675 and i can sharpen my lawnmower blades without having to remove them by simply jacking up the lawnmower high enough to get the tool under it so it fits good on the blade and i can sharpen the blade without taking it off. this saves a lot of time. just remeber to count how many strokes you take on one side of the blade and then repeat the same amount of strokes on the other side. this way you keep the blade in perfect balance. make sure to lower the blade all the way down. this makes it a lot easier before sharpening the blade

It is a little difficult to explain, but this did not fit my mower blade. I guess it would give the correct angle on an axe or another 'flat' item. I have a toro mower and the blade has a curve in the horizontal and the black plastic guard does not give a consistent angle when I move it down the length of the edge. I can still use it by taking the guard off, but then it is just a grinding wheel.

I have hand sharpened with a file and used the other type sharpener that fits in an electric drill, both were quite time and energy consuming and less than pleasing. This rotary tool attachment really works! It is quick and easy and gives a sharp edge in a surprisingly short time. I am well pleased with this product. Navigation - dock, car mount

I didn't purchase this navigation mount from this seller.

I bought it from Verizon Store at the time of DROID 2 purchase (Extra discount on phone accessories that makes most of the genuine accessories much cheaper than anywhere else).

Anyhow, it is good to know that Motorola seem to redesigned their navigation mount this time around for DROID 2. Now, you can have your phone stably place on your navigation mount while keeping the case on!

I'm not sure if all the DROID 2 navigation dock comes in a package in a way that the "insert" is already tightly inserted onto its main dock. Well, mine did... and I hated it. I wished if I could have the navigation mount that is usable while keeping the case on.

It took me a while to figure this out...

I actually spent a good one month or so without knowing it and did take the case off every time I'm in my car. Yeah...It was a huge drag... (I still loved it's stability though)

Because of the hassle, I came to very close to just abandoning it and getting an universal navigation mount that would fit my DROID 2 while keeping its case on. And then I found out that Motorola DROID 2 A955 Multimedia Docking Station can be used while I keep the case on after removing the insert (please read my review for the product IF interested)...

And I thought, "Hmmm... so if things worked out with the multimedia docking station, shouldn't it work with the navigation mount too??"

So I tried to see if I could remove the insert from the main dock.

It didn't come off easily. This is because the gap between the main dock and the insert is practically none and I didn't want to damage the dock body. It was necessary to detach the main dock from the arm before I proceed to the next step.

I used two different kind of flat-head screwdrivers (i.e., one small, one medium) in order to separate the two. I first used the small flat-head to make a small gap between the insert and the dock. And then I inserted the bigger flat-head between the gap and pushed the insert further apart from the main dock). IT PROBABLY THE BEST IF YOU WORK ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE MOUNT SINCE THE SCRATCHES WON'T BE SO VISIBLE EVEN IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGE THE BODY.

It took several attempts before they came apart.

It is a good thing that Motorola built the mount so steadily, but it takes a gentle, yet firm force to separate the two.

Pros:

- Compatibility (Fits DROID 2 with or without a case)

- Durability (This navigation mount does not shake or move once it's placed right).

I use suction cup to mount against the front glass and from the day one (it's been about a month),

it never came off. It's still attached to the glass as strong as the day one.

- Stability (This navigation mount is built very solid and won't come off nor shake the phone).

- You can adjust the angle in anyway you want.

- There is a charging output on the back of the mount. So you can just put the phone in its place and it starts charging as long as you keep the phone on the mount, which is crucial as battery drains while using Google Map Navigation.

Cons:

- It took a while to figure out how to set it up right (Had to use two screwdrivers...)

- Package doesn't include car charger

- Aux cable is no use if your vehicle doesn't have it's input or is not equipped with bluetooth system (just like my old car. I only have a cassette tape player and I would need to get something like this:Xm Auto Cassette Adapter in order to get a better sound.

- User Guide Motorola Car Mount for DROID 2 [Verizon Retail Packaging]

This mount works perfectly. It saves you from having to hold your phone while driving and it provides a great viewing angle. The adhesive sticks and stays there. I highly recommend this because it is from Motorola, it fits perfectly and it has the magnet to put it in the car dock mode. the only down side is that it doesn't come with a car charger, but I found that easy enough right on Amazon. Motorola P513 Vehicle Power Adapter MicroUSB Rapid Rate Charger

I recently purchased a Droid 2 and purchased the car dock on Amazon and I have to say I'm quite impressed. The dock comes with inserts so you can use this with the original Droid, the Droid 2 and the Droid 2 with the Motorola case.

I have the case on my phone so I removed the insert and the fit is perfect. I like that I can keep the car charger attached to the dock so all I need to do is put the phone in the dock and drive.

On receiving a phone call all I need to do is hit answer and hands free from there on in.

This does exactly what it's supposed to do. Puts the Droid 2 (Global in my case) phone into the car dock mode and allows me to charge the phone and use the navigation. Just note that the car charger cable does not come included with this dock. With this dock it eliminates the need to have a 2nd GPS device for navigation and since the battery life of the Droid 2 Global is so crappy it also helps keep the battery charged. - Dock - Car Mount - Droid Car Mount - Motorola Droid'
