Laptop Speaker - laptop speakers, laptop speaker

Pros

-The sound bar looks and feels nice. Not quite up to an apple level product but generally above the average computer speaker and definitely more than anything in this price range.

-Price, for roughly $20-$25 dollars shipped its not quite a steal but a good value.

-Ergonomics. It's small, discrete, and is very easy to adjust the volume and power on and off. The unit has enough weight to keep the product from sliding around the desk when you adjust things.

Cons

-It doesn't sound very good. Complete lack of any sort of bass response. When it does start to get to the frequency that it can play bass, it's sounds more like a very faint rattle or buzzing. For general use and gaming it is slightly below average but I feel is not suited for music at all.

-Sound stage is below average, sounding very small. I got the best settings using virtual surround sound on, which makes it feel more like a bigger speaker or like satellites, moving it to the realm of acceptable.

-Not a usb speaker, just usb powered. It would be a little nicer if the unit could skip the input jack and play sound directly through the usb plug removing the need for 2 wires.

-Sensitive to noise through the wires and from the source. The unit itself doesn't make much noise or hissing, but if you're using computer sound card you may get a varied amount of hiss, buzz, or crackle where as I got no noise from my stereo equipment.

Overall the product is average for a desktop system. It's sound may be too lacking to keep in the long run, but the speaker looks great, is easy to use, and doesn't take up any desktop space (fitting nicely under the monitor). I was tempted to return it... but decided against it. It'll sit happily under my monitor, at least for a little while. iLuv Portable Stereo Speaker Bar for Mac/ PC and Laptops (iSP150BLK)

Relatively modest improvement from my MacPro tiny built-in speakers but consistent with what you would expect for such a low price. I like it being so light and easy to carry around. USB is also very convenient.

I've had this speaker set for a couple of weeks now. Have had no problems with it, although I do agree with another reviewer that it should be just a USB speaker rather than having to use two cords. Sounds is pretty decent so those expecting Bose quality should look elsewhere. Other than that, I've had no problems and enjoy some great sound as well. At the $14 price I got it at, it's better than the speakers I had before and worth every penny.

I purchased this speaker box so that would not need to wear headphones while watching movies on my PC. I don't watch TV.

The size was right and the price is VERY nice.

Very attractive unit...

BUT...

The USB and audio jacks are very loose, and because that makes for a poor electrical connection, there is constant low-level static.

Also, the manufacturer was quite stingy on the length of both the USB and audio cables. So plan on buying new cabling for it if you want to place it more than two feet away from your source(s).

I won't send it back, because it took almost a month to receive, but I wouldn't buy it again. I'd take a step or two up.

If you buy one, don't say you weren't warned.
