Firewire 800 To 400 Adapter

I'm using it to adapt a PreSonus FireBox into an Ableton Live setup on a new MacBook Pro 17" and it works perfectly. The cable is flexible so it's not cumbersome, it stays plugged in to the computer with enough force that I'm not worried that it will dislodge during recording or performance. Low enough profile so that other cables (USB, ethernet) will plug in as neighbors without touching or being forced in. Definitely would recommend. moshi FireWire 800 to 400 adapter

Got it today to connect 24 in alum iMac to Western Digital MyBook 1TB external hard drives using their old Firewire400 cords. Seems to work so far. Seems sturdily made. I like how it doesn't stick straight out from the back of the computer just begging to be snapped off, like other adapters. Apple now sells this product on their website for more than Amazon.

I bought this adapter for use with my Mid-2010 Macbook pro and had some issues getting it to connect to certain devices. If you are using a firewire audio interface of any kind, DO NOT USE THIS ADAPTER! Instead, get a cable that goes from FW800 to FW400 for these purposes.

I have a Tascam FW-1082 and I couldn't get it to connect to my Macbook. I called Tascam and they said that there was no way to get my FW-1082 to connect using an adapter. I'm not sure why this is, but they said that this is the case with many audio interfaces using firewire.

I would recommend this for use with an external hard drive, but nothing that uses firewire intensively such as an audio interface or anything of that nature.

This product performed as specified. I recently upgraded to a 13" Mac Book Pro and needed a way to connect older Firewire 400 devices. Some of the devices I have connected so far include: 2nd generation iPod (click-wheel), Cannon Elura 100 video camera, and a Lacie 250 GB removable hard drive. Each of these devices performed just as it had when used on an older Mac with the older 400 port. Would highly recommend this product!

Works perfect. Also the narrow plug on the 800 side is perfect on the MacBook pro because some plugs tend to be fat/oversized and do not allow for neighboring plugs to be inserted. Plus the 5 inch reach of this adapter makes it easy to swap out different firewire devises, without stressing the firewire port on the MacBook Pro.

It worked satisfactorily in adapting an old slide scanner to the new fire wire port in a macbook pro. All data from the slide scanner seems to be transmitted so far. If I had used it for several months and it's durability confirmed I would have given it 5 stars.

I've had this for some time now and it is a must have to connect any FireWire 400 peripheral be it a hard drive, camcorder or the like when all you have is a FW800 port(s).

This adapter fits really nice, snug and can be positioned how needed so as to not place any stress on the end of the cable or FW port.

Best simple solution that can travel with you or stay at home.

I bought this adapter to link my Canon Elura video camera to my MacBookPro, and it works really well. My Mac was able to immediatelly recognize my camera, and Rewind, Fast Forward and Play features were enabled and worked well. I was able to easily import video and audio without any loss of quality from the Camera to my Mac.

This item simply did not work. I troublshooted the problem for quite some time to make sure it wasn't the hub or the firewire cable or the port on the computer. Switched out one thing at a time over and over. Finally came to the conclusion that everything in the chain worked except the little adapter thing. It's not worth it to pay shipping to return it so I just ate the cost... oh well.'
