Blackberry Trackball

My trackball on my 8100 pearl stopped scrolling up. I tried pulling it out and cleaning it, to no avail. I was a little suspicious whether this would fix the problem, but it did. It looks and fits just like OEM. It was pretty easy to install: just pry under the silver ring around the trackball, and the ring pops out. Then pry the smaller silver ring out, and then pop the trackball assembly out and pop the new one in. Not for those that are very technologically faint of heart -- but no harder than, say, adding memory to a computer. Google "blackberry trackball" and people have picture tutorials. I am just glad I did not have to get a whole new blackberry to fix the problem. Blackberry Trackball / Joystick / Navigate / Pearl / Ring Repair Replacement Fix Fixing for Rim Blackberry Pearl

I researched having my trackball replaced in NYC and it was about $100. The other alternative was buying a new blackberry $200+.

It is so easy to remove the old trackball and replace with this part; literally two pieces. It is like having a new phone.

I realize most of the reviews have been positive, but my experience with these trackballs has proved quite disappointing. I ordered two; one did not work at all, and the other, while it worked, proved to be terribly slow in scrolling speed. I had no choice but to reinstall the original trackball. The ball itself is discolored and the performance is a bit sloppy, but nevertheless it's still far superior to these. I'm going to see if I can get original BlackBerry trackballs, even if they cost more.

My trackball was sticking a little bit on my pearl 8100, so i looked online for instructions on how to clean it. I took apart the trackball assembly and cleaned it, and that stopped the sticking... but then I tried to clean the actual trackball and nothing worked. At that point I came to Amazon and ordered a new trackball assembly.

Absolutely worth it. I wish i had done it in the first place instead of wasting time taking the assembly apart to clean it. Especially at this price.

The seller shipped it very fast, and my BB was as good as new.

Word of warning - you will be absolutely disgusted at the discoloration of your trackball compared to a new one. Really gross. I am by no means a dirty person, and my trackball was almost black.

My journey to fixing my Blackberry 8100 trackball started with looking online for repair services. The first I found charged around $70, so I went to the T-Mobile store to see if they could assist. They directed me to Customer Care phone support, and after being on hold for about 15 minutes, the answer was, "It's not under warrantee, you don't have insurance, sorry." I then started looking again for online fixes. This part sells at a range between $5 and $50, installation not included. I was pleased that I was able to get such a small part, at such a great price, from this seller. Without any resources or "how to" I found that this was an easy fix, just dropping the trackball into the hole, and gently clicking the silver ring cover (the side w/o prongs towards the LCD), and voila, good as new!

Works perfectly in my BB Curve. The old trackball was stained from a a broken compact in my makeup bag, and after I tried to clean it up, the trackball would stick once in a while. With the replacement it is like new! The replacement, at least to me, looks *exactly* like the old trackball. I'm thinking about buying another one to have on hand in case I need it!

I've had the same blackberry curve since 2008 and it worked and looked like it did the first day I bought it brand new...That is, until the track ball fell out. I really didn't want to depart from my blackberry because it has made life so easy on the go. But I was tired of trying to push the ball back in the phone every time it popped out. The last straw was when I was at work and the track ball popped out and rolled several cubicles over. One of my co-workers found it several days later. So I ordered this replacement track ball and now my phone is back to "brand new" status. The price was awesome too! I've had the replacement track ball for a month now and it still works great.

Amazon used to ship the product on time except this item.. I didnt receive the product and after few followup emails/calls we got the money back not the product..we didnt expect this from Amazon..Here after I will think twise before placing the order with Amazon

Original Track ball was so worn out that I couldn't move it sideways. With the replacement Trackball, I can use my phone again but it doesn't have the feel and functionality of the original part. Sometimes, I have to try to scroll down a couple of times before it will work, whereas I didn't have to do the same when I first bought the phone. If your phone doesn't work at all, Its great but don't expect it to replace the original smooth feeling of Blackberry.'
