Another Classic

Duke is back and is as fun as ever. The guns are big and the aliens are cool. The graphics are hit and miss, but the levels have lots of secret areas to explore. Some characters look better then others, but the weapon effects are cool for a playstaion game. The levels are fun and well designed with fun missions like saving babes and hunting down lots of bad guys. Oh ya, and Duke is the man! Nuff said. Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes

I love action shooters. Games that are all about hand/eye coordination and quick reflexes. This game totally delivers on that premise and I wish there were more like it.From a technology and graphics standpoint the title is just OK. But the gameplay, cinematics/story, puzzles/secrets and weapons are all top notch and well worth the price of admission to play this game.I've seen some reviews that compare the game to Tomb Raider and that is very misleading. This is an action-shooter, not an exploration game.I highly recommend this game. It will hold me over til I can get a Playstation2:)

I agree with the previous comments on this new release. There are far fewer enemies and it doesn't require any skill to bump them off. You can see them from a mile away and can pop them very easily. A strategy guide, i.e., walkthru, is definitely helpful. Before I received the walk-thru, I gave up and quit Level 2 after trying for hours to complete the last objective (today I found the walkthru--available at: ...). There are some features that I like which are improved from the Time To Kill game: 1. There are new, cool, destructive weapons. 2. The select option to pick weapons, objects, communications, 3. The cheat menu on screen (although, there is no "all objects cheat").Overall, it's ok to rent and play, but, I wouldn't pay ... to buy it.

More Duke action with new Dukisms and Duke type levels. EXACT same setup/game-play as "Time to Kill". TTK is my favorite psx game, so I was really excited to get "Land of the Babes." However, I was less than overwhelmed. The graphics and motion in the game aren't quite as good as in TTK. The bad guys all look plain goofy and stupid, and also aren't as fun to kill as it takes no skill to do them in; just a duke load of ammo! And that's another problem with the game...you go through ammo way to quickly, as it takes 5-7 shots with the shotgun just to bring a creep down. and like I said, there's no more hiding behind corners, sneeking up, or strafing...now it's just standing there and hoping that the bad guys drop before you do (or at least you run out of ammo). But in the end, if you are a huge Duke Nukem fan like myself, than this is definitely one to get your mits on. Buy this game and "Come get some!"

I think to play this game, that a strategy guide would be helpful, like one you can purchase with Amazon.com. Also the use of cheat codes will help get through the levels without running out of ammo and getting bumped off too soon. I'll admit that the lack of enemies at certain levels is quite boring. Also the "nukers" vocabulary could of been expanded a lot more. All in all, it is fun in spots and I am not too disappointed with the game. It is a lot more fun than " Time to Kill". A good buy, but a strat guide and codes should make you enjoy the game more, at least it can't hurt!

After waiting since April (the original release date!) for this game to come out, all I can say is: What a disappointment! If you thought Time to Kill looked unpolished, wait till you see this game! The graphics are spotty, there are barely any enemies, and it seems that more than two or three animated objects on the screen at once causes the framerate to creep down close to zero. Worst of all, Duke now speaks as if he's sitting on the john; his previously humorous quips are now ruined by a whiney, strained voice. All in all, a VERY disappointing effort to continue the series; this is a real shame, as I was formerly a huge Duke fan. Shame on Infogrames and everyone else involved for this sorry attempt.

Duke Nukem - Land Of The Babes is the best of the three Duke games on Playstation, but that is not saying much considering how bad the other two were. The pace of this is off and on, sometimes there are no enemies, sometimes there are many enemies. Using the many guns in the game is fun, sniping is extra cool, especially when you pop the baddies head off. The game is very hard however, and you will need a strategy guide to finish it. About 2/3 of the way through the first level is where the game gets real hard, real fast. Dukes one-liners may have been funny back in '95 with the original Duke 3D but now they have been used so much in the many different Duke games that they simply aren't funny anymore. The graphics lack polish, and aren't much better than the other Duke games. Overall this game SCREAMS mediocre. This would be a fun rental, just be sure to look up a strategy guide on the 'net first, because it's pretty much impossible without one. I would suggest buying the guide from Amazon but if you only rent it then there is really no point to buying a full price guide when you can find one on the 'net for free.'
