This is advertised as high speed, but its not. You can use it for attaching keyboard or cordless mouse, but that's about it. Tried transferring data using it and it crawled. If someone is considering to use this USB for a PS3's accessories like playstation eye or anything else, stay away from this USB. It claims that having high speed USB hub 2.0 but my PS3 doesn't even recognize my ps eye for once. Save your dollar for something else worthy.
Don't buy this. Really. Yes, the price is great, but trust me, this thing will not do what you want it to. After realizing that the advertised 2.0 speeds were a lie, I decided not to use it for my external hard drives or audio interface (the reasons I bought it). However, even when I use it for simple tasks that shouldn't require tons of speed it fails me. It randomly stops communicating with/powering my mouse, and iTunes pops up notifications that the USB connection is too slow. Also, It managed to corrupt the files on my iPod, necessitating a full restore.
Just remember, you are better off with one USB port that works than four that don't.
When I received this product I was unable to connect anything to it. It would fit into my computer just fine, but when I tried to plug anything into the device itself, it would just keep sliding out. I tried this with many accessories I have lying around my house, just to make sure that the problem wasn't with my accessory. Everything I owned wouldn't plug into this device. It does not allow you to use any of the ports to plug things into your computer. This product is a waste of money and time. Do not buy it.
Read what others wrote and still bought it, so that's "on me" -- but I sure enough am getting the same warning that this is NOT A USB 2.0 DEVICE! It seems to be working okay for low-power/low priority peripherals...but my external hard drive does NOT like being run through this. If you expect high performance (or even mid-performance) do NOT buy this particular item. If you're only plugging in your dancing Hello Kitty or your cool blue light bar, have at it. However, if you are expecting productivity then spend a few more bucks for something else.'
