Iphone 3g - faceplates, iphone

Why they still sell these things, I have no idea. But you CANNOT just replace the glass (easily) on the 2g because the glass is fused to the digitizer. If by some small miracle you can get the glass apart from the digitizer without damaging it, you might have a use for this.

I'm a very experienced computer guy, and I thought it would be easy to do after reviewing several how-tos and videos. I was way wrong. Don't do it. You'll end up spending the [...] bucks elsewhere and get the full screen assembly when you crack the digitizer.

What am I left with? [...] bucks I didn't have to spend, a nice piece of glass I can use for something, and a [...] dollar hole in my pocket that I just should have spent in the first place. But my phone's screen is replaced, no thanks to this product. OEM LCD GLASS LENS FOR APPLE IPHONE 2G, 1ST GEN

Guys, I know that many of you are thinking about these cheaper options. Please don't do it because it can put yourself at risk of losing $100s. Basically, the other reviewers are right, these cheap kits include dodgy tools that can crack your iphone or make your battery explode. Both happened to me. I had to throw it out of my door and it exploded next to an ornamental wooden plant basket. These sellers are scammers. AVOID!

This product is absolutely not usable for the description. You cannot replace only front screen and even use this as protective layer, absolutely. Tried to remove front layer - did it, but this one isn't replacement anyway. - Iphone - Iphone 3g - Iphone 3g Glass - Faceplates'
