The power bricks on the Dell laptops have an obvious design flaw, as I've seen many of them fail in the same place--right next to the plug. When mine finally failed, I found this OEM replacement at a great price, and ordered right away. My only complaint is that I sprung for the 3 day delivery, but it still took a week before my power supply arrived. I'm chalking the delay up to holiday mail congestion. My old laptop charger had broken and I needed a new one fast, but couldn't afford to buy one. I was able to buy one from here for cheep. It was exactly what I needed and got to me fast so that I could keep doing my school work on my computer.
My power/adapter never seemed to fully charge my Inspiron 600. I thought the Dell site asked too much for something so simple, so I looked for a used one with no luck. Then I found this item, which is appropriately priced. It charges the battery and runs the computer just like it should. The only problem is the cords are shorter than the original. My guess is that these were made for Dell, but did not meet specs, so they went to second hand dealers. I may just switch the cords with the ones I originally received, as they just plug in and it was the charger on my original that did not work. Bottom line, the product is what it claims to be and works as described. You are getting what you are paying for.
All three power chargers I've received from this company have malfunctioned and broken. I have yet to receive response or refund on my last purchase. They were initially very responsive with sending replacements, but have not responded to my emails from the last few weeks.
I purchased this power adapter for my Old Dell Inspiron Notebook. My rabbit has chewed original cord and I had to replace it (yea.. my rabbit chews avery power cord he sees.) As far as I know this power adapter looks and feels like original. Has all the labels like original with Dell logo on it, has ruber tie just like the original, etc.
But.. The cord from the adapter (im talking about the big black thing..) to the computer is way shorter than the original. The cord from power plug to the adapter looks same lenght. It is not a major disadvantage for most people but for me it is since I have trouble pluging in to my nearest power source. I need extension cord. Another problem is that they added ground prong to the power plug. Original did not have that. Now it does not fit to some extension cords.... Overall I'm happy with it but only 4 stars for the reasons stated above. :)
